Versa won't turn on after the update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I updated the firmware today. The app said I had a full battery. I was out and was wondering why I wasn't getting notifications and realized it was off. I tried to turn it back in holding the back and bottom button, nothing happens. I tried to do the hard reboot holding all three buttons nothing appeared. This Versa is only about a year old.

Anyone have the same issue?

Hi there @Vetarella, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for trying to restart your Versa to turn it back on. I'll be glad to continue assisting you with this.

In order for me to better assist, please confirm that you've done the following steps as described below:

  1. Check in the Fitbit app if your Versa is still syncing, if so, try changing the clock face to a different one by following these steps: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?. The steps are done through the Fitbit app, do not worry if you cannot see anything on the screen for this process.
  2. You've restarted your watch by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the steps don't work and your watch doesn't vibrate when you connect it to the charger, I'd recommend trying the following suggestions:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the above steps don't work either, at this point I recommend doing a factory reset (before doing so, make sure to remove your watch from your Fitbit account):

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. You can follow the steps to set up the device after that: How do I set up my Fitbit device?

Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

I'm looking forward to your response, keep me posted.

Hi I'm having the exact same issue. The device is showing literally nothing on the screen not even the fitbit symbol when I go to reset it. It IS syncing with my phone and the battery is at 100% but the screen is completely dead. None of these steps have worked unfortunately.

Mine won't even sync. And the heart rate monitor doesn't even flash. It's
like it's off and won't come back on.

Hello Maria,

I did all the steps and my device still does not work. I cleaned everything, placed it back on the charger and it didn't vibrate. Tried the hard reset and the logo didn't come on.

Please advise what steps I need to take now. Really frustrating as it's just over a year since I received this device.

Thank you.

The exact same thing happened to me, so i reached out to customer service and they told me that since my warranty was up nothing they could do about it. But my fitbit is in perfect condition and was working just fine before the update.

That's unfortunate. I've owned several fitbits and this is the first time I've had this issue. I'm sad they won't take ownership of the problem. I just pre-ordered the Fitbit Sense but I may have to cancel it.

This is my third Fitbit (One, Alta, Versa).

I was really enjoying their products. It's just sucks that right after an
update this would happen. It may just have all been coincidence, but it's a
sucky situation. I don't only rely on this to track my health and fitness,
but I'm a small business owner and getting those notifications are so
helpful.
