@jesther22 Let it cool down completely and then try long pressing the left button. If that does not work try pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons for several seconds until Fitbit logo flashes.

@jesther22 Have you tried 3-button factory reset?

  1. Press and hold all 3 buttons until Fitbit logo flashes (usually around 15 seconds but some posters have reported time up to 3 minutes)
  2. After Fitbit logo disappears, release the bottom right button
  3. Wait until you feel strong vibration and release the other buttons.

You may need to attempt the reset a few times to find the optimal times. Trying holding the buttons longer, as long as it's needed for the vibration to appear.

@Marrrmaduke, @jesther22  My take is that there is a problem with the battery!!  I leave it to Marrrmaduke to guide you further, but if the unit is new you may be able to get a replacement via customer support.

I have literally tired everything you suggested and nothing worked. It is only a couple of months old so I might just end up getting another one since I really miss wearing it but thanks for trying to help me

I have the same problem.  3 days ago the my screen just went blank. I have tried everything suggested here but still nothing.  My ap is showing the battery fully charged.  What do I do??

Best Answer

@jesther22   I think your battery has gone dead, there is one year warranty on them (EU: 2yrs), so if that's the case and it is not due to f.e. water intrusion (that may not be covered?) I think you stand a fair chance on getting a new Versa free of charge!

@billgillthat your app shows the battery is full doesn't mean anything: you need to check the date and time it has last sync'd (it says near the top-left corner of the Versa page on your mobile app), that was the last time the battery status was sent from the Versa to the app. Let the community know if your Versa is still syncing even when when the screen has gone blank/black! 🙂

@jesther22 I agree with @lenny4d. At this point I would recommend reaching out to Customer Support to guide you through the next steps. You might need a replacement.

It shows last synced 2 mins ago but the screen is still blank.

@billgill  ok - that seems to suggest your watch is still syncing fine, just a black/blank screen. What happens if you put it in the charger (you may need to tap a bit on the watch too), do you see the charging symbol or just nothing, still completely blank?

Have you either changed the clockface or the firmware recently/3 days ago? If so (but only then) I suggest to select one of the Fitbit clockfaces from the mobile app and install that instead. As you may know there some compatability issues between new 3rd party clockfaces and old firmware/and the other way around.

If you haven't done anything (no installtions of any kind), and the screen stays dark also when you put it in the charger etc, then possibly something is broken with the screen. In that case it is customer support...

Best Answer

@billgill I agree with @lenny4d. Change the clockface to one of the Fitbit originals. If this does not help, try to perform 3-button factory reset. If this fails, please reach out to Customer Support:

  1. Press and hold all 3 buttons until Fitbit logo flashes
  2. After Fitbit logo disappears, release the bottom right button
  3. Wait until you feel strong vibration and release the other buttons.

You may need to attempt the reset a few times to find the optimal times. Trying holding the buttons longer (some users mentioned 3 minutes), as long as it's needed for the vibration to appear.

When I put in in charger it is nothing only a blank screen.  I have not changed the clock face or anything since I purchased it in May.   Thanks for your help btw.

@billgill Thank you. This confirms that it is probably a hardware issue. Please contact Customer Support to guide you through the next steps.

Just yesterday  my FirBit Versa stopped charging, has a blank/black screen & gets very hot if I attempt to charge it.  I've tried letting it cool down several times, tried 2 & 3 button restarts (holding seconds, even minutes) and no luck. Of course I bought it in Sept  2018, so now it's just past the one-year warranty period.  It's been working just fine, every day/night for 14 months & then without warning it just quits like that. Pretty expensive purchase for no more than 14 months of usage. Very disappointed & angry, for the cost & assume no recourse for this issue now. Anyone have any other suggestions / recommendations?

Same, I purchased mine in June 2018 and it suddenly stopped working. I am going to switch to Apple Watch. This is the 6th Fitbit that I have bought

I have had similar problems. I managed to get a replacement watch from Fitbit last time as my watch was in warranty but today the same thing has happened. Put the watch on to charge, it heated up in the charger so have taken it out and is now not responsive. Like you, really frustrated & now considering hanging brands.

@Diva66  I have already switched and I love my Apple watch. They are discounted on Amazon's official site for apple products. The only caveat is that you have to charge your apple watch everyday.

I’m having exactly the same issue. Battery full according to app, but after being hot after charging it, can’t get it to turn on. I seriously wonder if the hot Fitbit poses a fire hazard. It was really hot. I thought it was fried. I didn’t think to check the app to see if it was charged. Thanks for suggesting that.
