Versa won't turn on or charge

I have one of the first Versas.  Two days ago out of the blue it shut off and will only turn back on if I put it on the charger.  The battery was at 86% when it shut off the first time.  Since then it has shut off several times.  I have tried the factory reset and made sure that it is updated.  Sometimes it will even shut off when it is still on the charger.  Any suggestions or do I just need to replace it?
