I’ve been trying to get the firmWare update pushed but it continues to fail with a red x whether i use Bluetooth or WiFi. I’ve tried everything I’ve read to troubleshoot and I also called support. The guy from support walked me through a list of things to try and nothing worked. He then told me they were having problems and to try tomorrow (not sure why he didn’t know this when we started the call) So I’m just curious if they really are having issues or if it’s a defective unit.

press the 3 buttons, wait for the logo to pop then disapear, and then once its black again release the lower right button while maintaining the 2 others for like 10 secs, it will vibrate.

I am holding the other 2 buttons for way longer than 10 seconds, screen stays black.
I am just going to return it.

I release the bottom right when the logo disappears, it stays black no matter how long I hold the other 2 buttons, no vibrations, no more logos, nothing, black, off, dead.

I bought a new fitbit versa.....and in the early setup when I tried to update the firmware it fails at 82% and I followed every step that was showed to remove the error but it still doesn't work....I tried setting it in both the pc and android phone but still couldnot get the update done... and also the factory reset doesnot work by pressing the buttons and leaving the lower right button after the fitbit logo appears and go.

Ok, I can now get it to try and do the factory reset, I get the vibration but then it comes up and says "Data not cleared. Sync and try again"

Well I removed the Versa from the app and paired again. During the setup it connected in step 1, then in step 2 it would download a bit, come up with the red X, download some more, red X until it got to 60%, then it would not download past the 60%.

Umm...if you already have the latest why are you trying to update the firmware?
There is a thread here where it is to show:

Hi,
I seem to be having the same problem with my new Versa. I tried everything - restarted the phone, deleted the App, removed the device, used neighbour's wifi, tried with the hotspot - nothing seemed to work and I still can't update Versa and get it working. It always stops when it reaches 10% download.
Now I also tried the factory reset with the three buttons (as described here https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2047/) and since then I can't even pair it with the app (deleted everything, restarted the phone etc.). I can return it to the shop and get a new one, but am afraid I will have the same problems and loose another 4-5 hours trying to get it working. I read all the messages here on this forum and the suggested solutions just don't work for me. Has anyone had it replaced with new device and that one was actually working?

If people are having the same problem and all of the complaints are spread out over 100's of post then it is difficult for the support staff.
When all the information is in one location and the only thing common is the current firmware the support staff can say to the devs
"Hey look at this thread, there are dozens and dozens of people unable to update the Versa with firmware 3.0.14, they all have different phones, they use Android, they use Apple, they are all still having issues, they have reset the Versa, they have reinstalled the app, they have done every possibel combination but it still doesn't work, how about you consider looking at this"
If you don't want to make it easier to get this problem fixed then there is nothing I can do to get you to.

I just got a new Versa yesterday and I'm having the same issue. I've tried to factory reset but I don't feel the strong vibration after releasing the bottom right button.

Just to let you know - I got a replacement today, from the same shop, the same stock, but the new watch was updated in 20 minutes, no problems at all. So probably there isn't just the issue with firmware, but also some watches just don't work as they should.
