Very annoying trying to set up watch

I have tried to set up my watch to pair with my iPhone 6. Does this watch actually show your text messages and emails as mine doesn't. It tells me who is ringing it will,pop up. I bought this yesterday from JB HIfi and I asked him if it was easy to set up and can I read my emails and text and he said yes. Very simple follow the prompts on the phone and app. I bought mine on a recommendation from a friend I am well and truly frustrated and reading all the issues everyone else is having I wouldn't recommend it. As I have now tried to pair it I am sure I can't return it. Can anyone confirm that this watch does allow you to read texts and emails .

Have you checked the seeings in the Fitbit app and the iOS phone?

Does these notifications show up on the phones lock screen?

Have you checked the permissions on the notification center?
