Volleyball and Versa

Hi Everyone!

I'm a 15-year-old volleyball player, and I play it very competitively. I used to have a Fitbit Alta HR, but then I started to play volleyball and stopped using it. I have wanted the Versa for a while, but I do have a question. Will I be able to put it into my sports bra as we play, seeing as we aren't allowed to wear jewelry. I would really like to track things as I play.

Thank you!

-Sil

No.

See page 11 of the user & instruction manual.  https://staticcs.fitbit.com/content/assets/help/manuals/manual_versa_en_US.pdf

Solely designed to be worn on your wrist. The heart rate monitor will not be able to read your pulse unless it is in direct, firm & constant contact with your skin. Step count is measured by your wrist movement - why it is not 100% accurate.

Closest you will get to obtaining a workout reading is by wearing on your ankle under a sock.

Anywhere else?  I doubt it will work never mind  record anything.

Can you not wear it under a wrist sweat band as a fitness tracker is not jewellery?

Hello @silvialkahley and a warm welcome.  I have a different perspective from @GrubbyDuck .  I know this is contrary to the Fitbit manuals, but I am the type of person to try out things with my devices and see what happens.  Since there are many complaints from users about not getting steps while pushing a shopping cart or stroller, I took my Versa 2 band off and put it in my sports bra to see what happened.  In these cases, it worked just fine.

I suspect the step count might be lower when used playing volleyball.  Sometimes there are smaller steps, especially side to side steps that might not be recognized.  You might not get active minutes because you need a certain calorie burn sustained for 10 minutes to "start" the active minute clock.  The heart rate will work.

If your Alta HR is still at the bottom of a drawer somewhere and it will charge, try adding it back to you account.  Take the band off, tuck it it your sports bra and see what happens.

Along the same lines of just trying things, I am able to put my Versa 2 on my ankle with the large band.  But I have pretty skinny ankles.

I’m 14 and I also play volleyball. I’ve only had the versa for a month and I wear the Fitbit in my bra without issue. I just set the watch to workout mode and it calculate my steps and calorie burn with accuracy ( I think ). So if you want to get one I definitely think you should. 🙂
