Samsung Galaxy 9 for phone. Fitbit Versa 3. Apps on phone include AllTrails & MapMyWalk
Walking partner has an Apple Phone and a Fitbit Versa 2. Phone also has AllTrails app.
We can walk, side-by-side, each with walk or hike exercise selected. We can both have AllTrails running and I can have MapMyWalk running. The total distance traveled does not match across all five tracking devices/apps. My Fitbit stats aren't even close to my partner's. Steps taken and distance traveled are wildly off between us. We just finished hiking two trails. They were 5.4 miles completed in 1 H 59 Min and 3.5 miles completed in 1H 34 Min respectively. My Versa 3 recorded 3.94 miles completed in 3 H 27 Min and 3 miles completed in 1 H 42 Min respectively. My partners Versa 2 recorded over 10 miles for the two hikes.
Why are these numbers wildly different between apps on the same phone and between my Versa 3 and my partners Versa 2?

My husband just got a Versa 3 and I have a Versa 2. He went for a mile walk and fitbit told him he had burned 800 calories. He also has 10000 steps already before noon - he's a truck driver. I get the bouncing in the truck adds steps but not like that. I have a versa 2 and I burn 400-600 cals on a good workout. I'm so frustrated. I just ordered my Versa 3 too and I'm thinking about cancelling the order if it's going to be this inaccurate.

I want to update the original post above. My hiking partner and I both have the Versa 3 now. We are hiking Wisconsin's Ice Age Trail and need to track our hiking distances traveled. The GPS is now integrated into the watch so the ongoing watch/phone/app relationship shouldn't be a factor anymore.
We hiked a measured 6.6 mile trail segment yesterday. My Versa 3 logged 5.08 miles hiked while my partner's Versa 3 logged 6.93 miles. (the AllTrails app on my phone logged 6.5 miles). We sync starts, pauses and exercise stop times. We are hiking the same trails at the same time. Both watches record the same route of travel, just wildly different distances traveled.
Can anybody shed some light on why this is happening? Is the Versa 3 losing its GPS lock as we hike through the woods? Help!
