Walked over 27,000 steps.......in my sleep

I've seen some older threads on this topic but didn't seem to find an answer. I got up this morning and checked my phone to see all these notifications from Fitbit saying I had earned new badges. Apparently I have walked over 27,000 steps today. Only problem is, I haven't had my watch on since yesterday, and it was laying on my nightstand beside my bed. It's not a Special Edition, wasn't charging and wasn't near a fan. My watch and the app both say I have walked over 27,000 steps but the dashboard doesn't show when I did this (I'm guessing it's because I didn't). Anyways, is there any way to remove these steps and the badges? I would really rather actually earn them, and this is messing up my stats.

On FitBit app go to heart rate & select it. There should be no heart rate readings showing for the hours between it not in use.

On your device: Go to activities. If an activity is there you want to delete? Select that activity. Then ... 'top right' of screen & 'Delete Exercise'.
