Warning to Versa users in the hot weather

Hi guys, it’s pretty hot in the UK today. Walked in to town this morning and the heat melted the glue that sticks the screen to the device on my Versa. Managed to superglue the thing back together and was able to salvage it. So just be wary when you’re out and about to not allow your device to get too hot.

Mines old and surprised it’s lasted this long but the thing is still ticking!

Peace out and stay safe

Hi @A_Giraffe - thanks for reporting the issue and good recovery.

If you look in the forums this is not an isolated case and may not be just the heat. There are many cases reported of water getting in or the faces falling off, so some watches don't seems to have have resilient seals.

While Fitbit don't recommend immersing in hot water, this may also be an issue of direct sunlight when not wearing the watch to absorb some of the heat or just plain over heating. It would be interesting to know if the other reported cases had suffered some over heating in their life, leading to the failure.

It reminds me of the clip "front fell off"

I’ve actually never worn my Versa in water or ever had it submerged. Always taken it off to shower and pretty confident I’ve never worn it openly while raining.

The screen falling off may have just been down to wear and tear since it’s a good 18 months old now but when I got back home and took a closer look, I could see that the glue or whatever sealant they used had melted so I’m pretty confident it was down to the hot weather

Hi @A_Giraffe  pretty sure it is the temperature, too. I can't imagine how you've been fairing with this oppressive heat. The user manual says the Versa can word up to 113f or 45c, so it's being strained for sure. Hope you're staying as cool as possible and not overdoing it. Take care.
