Water logged on device doesn't show in Fitbit app (RESOLVED)

Fitbit Update: 12/18/19

Hi everyone,

When this thread started earlier this year, the issue was that waterlogging on the watch was not syncing over to the Fitbit app. No matter what you would log, it just wouldn't show up in the Fitbit app and didn't sync the information over.

Now, we're seeing reports that waterlogging is syncing over, but it is the wrong amount of water that was logged onto the watch. To keep threads organized and on-topic, I'm now going to close this thread and move the conversation here: Water Logging syncs incorrect amount to app.I've already merged some posts from this thread into that one.

If you're experiencing this new issue after updating to Fitbit OS 4.1, follow that thread for updates.

Fitbit Update: 2/7/19

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience while our team continues to investigate these reports with water logging issues. If you haven't yet tried some troubleshooting steps, I'd recommend the following:

  • Sync your Versa with your mobile device
  • Force quit and then restart the Fitbit app
  • Restart Today app on Versa and wait at least a minute

I'll keep you updated, so please stay tuned!

Fitbit Update: 1/24/19

Hey Versa Fam!

Our team is still investigating these reports for water logs not syncing over to the Fitbit app after logging them on your watch. We appreciate your reports and feedback.

If I receive any new information, I will update this thread so please stay subscribed. Thank you!

Hello @Dew1500@Haakee@TheIgster@Fitlark and @kostax, I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in the response. At this moment, if you have already updated the Fitbit app and the Today app by going to Account > Versa > Apps, I would like to suggest you to log out from the app, restart your phone and log back in, then sync your Versa.

After that, log in water from the watch and sync the Versa again. If the logs are still not showing up in the app, please reply to us with the following information so we can check this further:

  • Phone model you're using.
  • OS version running on your phone.
  • App version installed (go to Account > Help to get it)
  • Your device version (tap on the device's picture while on the Dashboard to get it)

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we'll be waiting to hear from you.

@MarcoGFitbit  - Thank you for your reply.

The syncing is not consistent, it works whenever it feels like it. When I do a manual sync, the water I just logged doesn't display. After doing a bunch of app force quits, etc. etc. -- eventually some water gets logged. This is not user friendly, and is silly that i must complete a combination of weird, mysterious and frustrating things in order for the water to get logged successfully.

All I want to know is if this is "normal" operation at the current moment in development, and if so is there a plan to improve this so that it works with just a simple manual sync? It's ok if things aren't perfect -- just be honest with your users so that we know if things are or aren't working the way they you're intending them to.

Pixel 3 XL
Pie (March Update)

Fitbit App
2.89

Fitbit Versa
Firmware Revision 32.33.1.30

Today App
No idea what the "today" app is.  Only app installed on my Pixel 3 XL is the Fitbit app.

After logging out, restarting and then logging in, 8 oz of water logged earlier, got logged in the app.  Tried logging another 8 oz and synced the Versa with the app and the second 8 oz does not log.  The feature is not consistent as the last person stated.  There is obviously an issue/bug here.

Are you anywhere near to sorting this? It's really frustrating. I add my water to my versa but it doesn't usually sync with phone. Everything else does , just the water doesn't. I also don't want to see what my last water log was, which is all it tells me. I want to know my total, otherwise the feature is useless.

I wouldn't mind so much of it just added it up on the versa, but not adding it up, and not syncing with phone makes it doubly annoying.

Thanks.

UPDATE:

It's really not helpful to have to keep logging out of app, deleting app and all the other stuff. Can you just make it work, consistently please!?

UPDATE 2:

It's not working for me and I'm getting frustrated!

No one has brought this up before, but I completely agree with the bolded part here too.  Why show us what we logged on the Versa?  Fine for it to say it was logged and then go to show us a total like everything else does.  Useless if you log water (which doesn't work consistently anyway), but then the water portion on the Versa just shows what you last logged, not a total.  Kind of useless indeed.

Tried it all again (wearing out the buttons on my phone), log out of
computer Fitbit, tried to force stop Fitbit app on phone but unable to for
last several weeks, restart phone. log back in. half of the water I logged
today shows up on phone and computer. Very inconsistent.
Using Fitbit ver 2.89
Today 33.1.30
Says Fitbit 2.40.1796 (60568)
Phone Droid Turbo OS 6.0.1
An added note: Many of the messages I get on this thread appear to be other
dissatisfied customers responding to me as though I'm Fitbit tech support
rather than another pissed off consumer so you could work on streamlining
your message board.
I'm still additionally annoyed by the fact that when I'm in the gym it
takes 7 button pushes to switch exercises: e.g. tap on Exercise, tap Select
(elliptical, etc), tap Start (Let's Go), when done tap on Pause, tap Green
Flag, tap End, tap Done. Then when wanting to switch to something else,
start all over by tapping Exercise, tap Select (weights or something else),
tap Let's Go. Then, when done, tap Pause, tap Green Flag, tap End, tap
Done. I might as well leave the gym, run around the block, go back into the
gym, start all over again.
First, Fix the water feature Then fix all the other stuff people are
complaining about or offer a refund.

Thank you for the follow up @MarcoGFitbit. I wanted to add that after following your instructions the water logging worked much better than normal, but only for 1 day. Today it's back to the broken functionality.

This seems like it should be such an easy fix. It's just adding up ounces,
1+1+1=3. It's not a complicated algorithm. Which leads me to believe no one
is actually working on it at Fitbit

They are busy working on all the new Fitbit devices that came out. The original versa is left back in the dust.

First you should know I have an Ionic not a VersaFirmware version 27.33.1.30
Phone LGSoftware LS676VCAndroid version 6.0.1
I called in to your help desk a good while back and went through the restart bla bla bla.
Water worked for one day. The next day I was back where I started.
You have a software problem. The watch sends info to the app all day long so it is not a connection/transfer problem. You need to stop telling people to do the same things over and over and expecting a different result. Fix the problem and send out an update. From a sales point of view you would do better fixing this problem than producing new products. Good working products sell more product by word of mouth then advertising. Products that don't work and aren't fixed kill business.

Hello,

Aside from the daily issues I have syncing my Versa with the Fitbit app on my S9+, when they do decide to work, any water I logged on the Versa NEVER shows up in the app. Zero times. No matter how many phone/app/Versa restarts, and shutdowns I perform. All firmware, and OS are up to date. Reading the countless complaints/issues on this forum, this has to be the sorriest piece of tech I've owned in recent memory.

Is there any fix on the horizon for the water logging issue?

Best Answer
Thanks for the update but I have unchecked water logging until a fix is reported as it is too frustrating to do the recommended fixes which do not work. Bought my fitbit versa in December when this was a problem and it is still a problem months later.
