Fitbit Update: 12/18/19

Hi everyone,

When this thread started earlier this year, the issue was that waterlogging on the watch was not syncing over to the Fitbit app. No matter what you would log, it just wouldn't show up in the Fitbit app and didn't sync the information over.

Now, we're seeing reports that waterlogging is syncing over, but it is the wrong amount of water that was logged onto the watch. To keep threads organized and on-topic, I'm now going to close this thread and move the conversation here: Water Logging syncs incorrect amount to app.I've already merged some posts from this thread into that one.

If you're experiencing this new issue after updating to Fitbit OS 4.1, follow that thread for updates.

Fitbit Update: 2/7/19

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience while our team continues to investigate these reports with water logging issues. If you haven't yet tried some troubleshooting steps, I'd recommend the following:

  • Sync your Versa with your mobile device
  • Force quit and then restart the Fitbit app
  • Restart Today app on Versa and wait at least a minute

I'll keep you updated, so please stay tuned!

Fitbit Update: 1/24/19

Hey Versa Fam!

Our team is still investigating these reports for water logs not syncing over to the Fitbit app after logging them on your watch. We appreciate your reports and feedback.

If I receive any new information, I will update this thread so please stay subscribed. Thank you!

Any updates on how to fix this. Got my versa Lite today and was really excited. What a bummer 😞

I'm currently writing an article about Tech Companies that release products that don't work properly - I'm sick of it.  Last year I wrote an article about Spotify's 10k song limit and The Verge asked permission to use some of my article so I'm also sending this article to The Verge (when I finish it probably at the weekend).

Guess what - this "water logging" has a section.  Three months have gone by and no fix for my Ionic, unacceptable.  If you bought a TV but some of the channels didn't work you'd send it back.  If you bought a car advertised with aircon but it didn't work you'd send it back.   Too many tech companies releasing product that don't work properly just rushing them out to market and I think enough is enough.

C'mon Fitbit you're really letting yourselves down and ruining your brand.

Hi,

I  have recently gotten my versa. The water logged on device is still not showing up in the fitbit app. Am pretty disappointed as I was really hyped about this function 😞 Have tried the recommended troubleshooting methods but to no avail, problem still persist. May I know if there are any updates with regard to this matter?

Hi, please find the requested information.

  • Phone model you're using. : Samsung S9 plus
  • OS version running on your phone: Android
  • App version installed (go to Account > Help to get it): Version 2.90
  • Your device version (tap on the device's picture while on the Dashboard to get it): Version 32.33.1.30

Do let me know how I can get the water log to sync to the app please.

Thank you!

I have the same problem and have tried the troubleshooting instructions.  I uninstalled the fitbit app and reinstalled it, restarted my FitBit Versa and still does not work.

Phone: V40 ThinQ

Android Version: 8.1.0

FitBit App Version: 2.90

Maybe if enough people rated their versa on website where they bought it,
Fitbit might have more incentive to fix the problem

Sorry fitbit the watch was nice, but you forgot to support your software and listening to your community.

Hi, everyone! Yes unfortunately, this is a known issue that many users have reported. Fitbit staff is aware of this and working to resolve it. I have faith that it will be fixed in the next update. *fingers crossed*

Happy stepping, all!

I do not know if you or anyone else can help me but I have been going in circles choosing a accurate watch that works. Stuck between charge 3 which I read is quite inaccurate on Hr.  The inspire Hr and the Versa. My head is spinning. Then I wondered  if I should just go with another brand that recently just dropped price on smart watch 3.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I sent an email asking about an update regarding this issue and the guy had no idea what I was talking about... Not sure they are working to resolve this at all

Oh, sorry to hear that. Sounds like you got hooked up with a clueless newbie. The person I spoke with was well aware of the issue and knew exactly what I was talking about even before I finished explaining. I do hope it will be rectified soon!

Lucky you. Thank's for letting me know! I was really upset about this. Let's wait and hope then.

This topic hasn't been updated since February 7th and it's now April. Are you guys actually working on this? Instead of putting out new products, you should focus on making the ones you have work as advertised or you're going to lose out on customer loyalty. The lack of progress on this issues is very disappointing. The point in the Versa is to not have to go into the phone constantly, but to be able to track things directly on the watch. Please at least let us know this is actually being worked on.

I started to have the same issue with new Versa after 2 weeks of usage. For what it's worth, the problem started when I linked MyFitnessPal app with Fitbit account.

I did some split testing on this issue with my Versa since I've got some downtime and I think I figured out what may be going on.

But first some stats,

Operating System: Android 9

Phone: Pixel 2 XL

Watch Face: Minimal style by Lee Doel

Fitbit Product: Fitbit Versa version 32.33.1.30

Notes: All day sync and Always connected are disabled

The water consumption on the main screen of the mobile application will only update after:

1) I've given the fitbit application enough time to process the amount of water (I find that it takes either a couple of resyncs or just about a minute).

2) Selecting the water from the main screen and drilling down to the list of daily personal consumption values will trigger a redraw of the main page and water page. Well that is if I've waited long enough.

So it seems to be a combination of patience and lack of auto redraw on the main and water pages. I was not able to conclusively determine if water must be recorded on the phone first before the water from the watch will be accepted. I will chock this up to the fact that with my charge and charge 2 I did not have the ability to record water on the device itself. It seems that the act of recording water on the phone triggers a refresh of the stats. Now that it can be done without having to go into another menu (and thus requiring a redraw) it doesn't seem that the application is setup to do this.

The only thing I noticed is that registering these values is very slow and I'm wondering if it is some sort of internet sync (this is speculation since I am not a fitbit developer). But yeah, it seems that the issue comes from the lack of auto redraw on the water page (just drill down to the "Today" water page and it should've updated given enough time).

Also, I do not have the fitbit application linked to any other applications on my phone either. Nor did I have to reinstall the application.

As an addendum, I did notice that at the beginning of a new day, the water logged on the watch is not preserved when syncing to the phone. If I log on the phone first and then start recording on the watch then those values will be preserved. I also have to say the amount of time required to actually cause the update is very very long (like sometimes 3 minutes). I have no clue why this one feature takes so long to synchronize.
