Water logged on device doesn't show in Fitbit app (RESOLVED)

Fitbit Update: 12/18/19

Hi everyone,

When this thread started earlier this year, the issue was that waterlogging on the watch was not syncing over to the Fitbit app. No matter what you would log, it just wouldn't show up in the Fitbit app and didn't sync the information over.

Now, we're seeing reports that waterlogging is syncing over, but it is the wrong amount of water that was logged onto the watch. To keep threads organized and on-topic, I'm now going to close this thread and move the conversation here: Water Logging syncs incorrect amount to app.I've already merged some posts from this thread into that one.

If you're experiencing this new issue after updating to Fitbit OS 4.1, follow that thread for updates.

Fitbit Update: 2/7/19

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience while our team continues to investigate these reports with water logging issues. If you haven't yet tried some troubleshooting steps, I'd recommend the following:

  • Sync your Versa with your mobile device
  • Force quit and then restart the Fitbit app
  • Restart Today app on Versa and wait at least a minute

I'll keep you updated, so please stay tuned!

Fitbit Update: 1/24/19

Hey Versa Fam!

Our team is still investigating these reports for water logs not syncing over to the Fitbit app after logging them on your watch. We appreciate your reports and feedback.

If I receive any new information, I will update this thread so please stay subscribed. Thank you!

So just a question..... If all these issues aren't resolved on the versa, why do you go ahead and release new versions of the versa just to have more people pissed off at you?

I have had this watch for a few months and it seems like I have to delete the app, re download it, and restart the watch once a week for anything to work. Seriously disappointed in this watch. I am pregnant so logging water is incredibly important and anything I log to my watch will not synch to the app on my phone. Anyone know how to fix? I'm getting really tired of re downloading the app every week and resetting all my preferences... I'm about to quit fitbit.

@Leadandlace Unfortunately, water logging via Today app has been problematic. I have been having similar issues. I know it doesn't help, but at this point all we can do is wait for a patch from Fitbit. 😞

LOL...Yup.  So glad I sold my Versa and moved on.  I just like to come back every now and again to see what hasn't been fixed yet.  This is simple software guys.  Wow.

@Creoleotter many people have already tried that (including me). It doesn't work for everyone nor for every device. Trust me, it's an issue on Fitbit's end, which they've said they are working on fixing. If your water logging works, be glad...you're one of the few lucky ones.

@Karona218 @TheIgster I'm sure Fitbit doesn't want their customers to be pissed at them. I'm also sure that they are working to resolve this issue. They want to succeed as a company and keep their customers happy. I have a feeling one, big, major update will come out...and it will be near perfection, fixing everything. I think this is why so many issues have gone unresolved lately. Instead of just correcting one problem, they are working on multiple issues. Hopefully, the next update will be huge...including the new features (yes, there are new ones coming soon).

Yeah, it's in inconvenient. Yeah, it sucks. Yeah, it's disappointing. But it's not the end of the world. Life goes on. I'm just happy to have a smartwatch that works instead of a crappy Apple watch, Garmin, or Samsung (all of which went into the trash or got returned). So, if the water logging doesn't work and they are working on it, I'm not gonna cry over that.

My phone is a Samsung J3 Luna Pro, Android version 6.0.1, Fitbit version 2.93.

I have done the troubleshooting methods several times, and keep experiencing the origional problem. Water logged for a day will not sync to my phone app, and it only shows "Xoz logged at Y:YY pm".    Highly frustrating as I can log in water all day long and have no way to keep track on the fitbit watch or phone app.

Hi again! Welcome aboard @Dsieds @DjCMAAAMA. Also, I'm glad to see you again participating and posting in our forums @Dew1500 @Karona218 @TheIgster. Your replies and updates are appreciated @Sherrilynnstock @Fitlark @AD1971, my sincere apologies for the delay in responding.

@Dsieds First, can you please let me know if you have already tried some of the troubleshooting steps that were provided in this thread? If so, please let me know which of them so I can further assist you with this situation.

@Sherrilynnstock Thanks for your update about your previous Versa. Regarding your Pandora concern, can you please check our help article: How do I install and manage apps on my Fitbit watch? and after taking in consideration the information that is specified there, let me know how it goes? Seems odd that you're unable to install this specific app. Is this occurring only with Pandora or other apps from our app gallery?

@DjCMAAAMA I'd like to appreciate your time and effort troubleshooting your difficulties prior posting. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to restart your Versa watch, uninstall the Fitbit app, reboot your Samsung J3 Luna Pro, reinstall the Fitbit app and let me know how it goes. Also. make sure that your Versa is up to date.

@Dew1500 @Karona218 @TheIgster @Fitlark Thanks for the continued feedback, restart assured, we're working to resolve this situation as prompt as possible. Your comments and suggestions are always helpful for us. @AD1971 Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with other users. Please let me know if I can do anything else for you guys.

I'll be here.

I've given up. 6 months and counting for mine. If I post too negative, they
will delete it. Probably do it to this one as well.

I have made sure the Today app doesn’t need to be updated. I have force closed the app and re-opened it. None of the fixes are working. This is so irritating. I got my versa as a gift for this past Christmas and the water log feature hasn’t worked right since I’ve had it. Someone please help!!! This is a huge reason why I wanted this fitbit.

There seems to be an ongoing bug with water logging that fitbit are investigating. Keep an eye on the following thread which has their latest updates and some things to try:

I am also having water logging issues on my Versa Lite. When you log it on the watch, it does not sync to the app or vice versa. It is also not cumulative on the watch,  it  just displays the last entry, kind of useless. Is there a fix or do we have to acceot it. Other than that the watch is nice.

I am still having issues with my device not syncing with the app when logging water and vice versa. When you log water on the device it just displays the latest entry and nothing else before. Is there a fix or do we just have to live with the problem ?

It seems to still be an issue. Check out the main thread for this issue where fitbit have been making updates and where there are some things to try:
