Went swimming now my Versa 3 won't turn on

I sent my fitbit to Swim, the screen locked as usual and now it won't turn on. The screen went black while I was swimming so I quickly took it off and put it in my towel. Still hasn't turned on and it's been an hour.

Hi there, @Ladyhill63. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

You did a great job trying to towel dry your Fitbit. When your device gets wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

In this case, please try restarting your Versa 3. For instructions, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?

If the restart doesn't work and your watch hasn't vibrated for the restart process, I'd recommend trying the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again.

Hope this helps.

Wait. I thought the Versa 3 was water proof.
Why would getting it wet be a problem?
