What is the mathematical formula for calculating calories?

1. What is the mathematical formula for calculating calories? That's why I ask (see point 2):

2. If I increase my daily steps goal, will this affect my daily calorie calculation formula? I know if the number of steps is higher, it increases the amount of calories consumed. New calorie results can be compared to these older calorie results, where daily steps goal count was less?
Now I would like increase the of 10,000 daily steps goals to 20,000 a day. I think the calorie calculation formula should be independent of the set goals, but what do you think about this?

@Laszlo52 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! Thank you for your inquiries. As @Rich_Laue mentioned the algorithm used to calculated your caloric burn is proprietary information so it isn't public (I personally don't know it nor I think I will but that's how this is handled in this business). The caloric burn is dependent on the activity your device detects and it isn't bound to a set goal on your settings.

Let me know how it goes!

I see a few questions above.

How does Fitbit count calories burnt? This is a proprietary secret, we do not know.

Does the reported calories burnt have anything to do with the daily goal? No

Calories are calculated based on the person's activity, changing the goal is not enough, the user needs to become more active.
