I thought I would be able to start and stop the recording of my run on the Versa, and then this would load up and sync with Strava?? This was part of the reason for my purchase, for ease of recording activities rather than having to use the app on my phone screen.
The versa won't sync with my strava app on my phone, so what I have on the Versa is just a list of the activities I have recorded on Strava via my phone, so it seems to me that the 'Strava app' on the Versa doesn't actually do anything?! Any thoughts would be appreciated!

That’s about the long and the short of it, yes. It has also been discussed ever since it came out on the Ionic and the conclusion is it’s pretty pointless at the moment. Better to use the Strava phone app.

@SunsetRunner The Strava app on your Versa will display activities you track through the Strava app on your phone. It's read only. Cute but not too useful. If you track on the Versa with the Versa Exercise app and you have your accounts linked, that exercise will appear in the Strava app on your phone but won't then also roll over to the Versa Strava app. I imagine it's useful for someone who wants to track thru Strava on their phones. Given that the Connected GPS feature is currently wonky for a lot of people, some have resorted to this method to get accurate distance tracking.

Is there a way to record the Strava activity through your smartphone so that you get the heart rate readings from the Versa in your activity?

@basa Not like you are imagining. If you track through Strava and link the account with your Fitbit account, the activity will come over to Fitbit and you'll see it in your Exercise tile. The details of the exercise will be stripped away (ie. pace, split times, map) but the heart rate will be attached and the calorie burn is adjusted (?). So there is a combining of the heart rate information with the Strava information but NOT in the Strava app. There you will see the exercise without heart rate from the Versa.

Thank you so much, guess I will look for another product.

I am pretty sure you can get the heart rate info into Strava, by linking your fitbit app to strava, and tracking it in the fitbit app. fitbit will then send the activity to strava, including the heart rate info. At least that worked on the Charge, if i lost that with this versa, i will be very disappointed.

Hello, I have linked my accounts strava app & fitbit. Yet the run I recorded through exercise on my versa this morning hasnt showed up on my strava app on my phone or fitbit. The reason I got the versa was so that I didnt have to take my phone on runs with me. Is there something I am doing wrong here?

@Boogie83 During the activity, you can not get the real heart rate from Strava, by linking your fitbit app to strava. After activity, Fitbit Versa will send the activity to strava, and you can analysis the activity info, including average heart rate.

Only GPS recorded activities will be sent from Fitbit to Strava. As the Versa uses connected GPS (your phones GPS), you would need to bring your phone along in order to track the run with GPS.
In order to achieve what you are looking for you would need to use a device with built in GPS, eg. Ionic.

Ok so I took my phone on my run this morning. My phone was bluetooth connected to my versa. I hit excersice, run on my versa. After the run, my recorded run was not transferred to strava. I dont really understand why this is so difficult.

I currently have Jabra headphones. I need a watch. I would like to monitor my sleep cycle. I would like to calorie count.
My Jabra elite sport is not compatible with fitbit app
My Jabra elite sport is compatible with strava
Strava is compatible with fitbit.
If I send workout data to strava from Jabra elite sport pulse headphones will it be possible for the fitbit app to work with this data.
mostly wanting fitbit to analyse heartrate and calorie count.
I would be really happy if the fitbit app could compare data from two sources - fitbit watch and Jabra (via strava)

Before you start your activity start, and choose Run I find it works best if the FitBit app on your phone is open and they will sync, you’ll feel a vibration in your Versa and that will mean they’re linked
I did my 1st marathon last year and it didn’t sync properly, no Strava record of my event, but I wasn’t using above method at that time, it seems to work everytime I do the above

Because you have to turn on the GPS in your mobile.

Don't buy the ionic I have been having a nightmare trying to get activities to sync to strava. Works fine with fitbit. Have tried everything advised by both strava and fitbit help but still having to upload my activities. The interaction between fitbit and strava is useless. Worked well for a few activities then stopped, started again and now have had nothing for over a week
