WhatsApp messages not clearing

Recently all but one WhatsApp message won’t clear from my notifications on my Versa 2. This happens when I press clear and clear all. The only way I can fix this is by doing a shutdown, which is not convenient as it is nearly every day. Once I have shutdown my Fitbit the message has then cleared, however then a new message gets stuck in the notifications. I have the update software so I am unsure of what the problem may be. Is anybody else having the same issue?

The Clear all or Clear doesn't work? 

Can you not simply swipe it off of the screen? 

You say a restart has cleared the one stuck message. But you have to keep restarting. Does this one message come back, even after it is cleared? 

Your title uses the word messages (plural) but the body mentions one message. I confused as to what the issue may be?
