I have the Versa now 3 months in possession and the problems with the GPS are still not solved. At the beginning, the connected GPS occasionally dropped. In recent weeks, the connected GPS doesn’t work most of the time. Tracking apps on the phone work fine.
I have tried all the 'solutions’ described on the forum (always connected, enable notifications, keep-alive widget, disable wifi, etc…) and tried some things myself. Nothing works. The only solution I can think of is that the bug gets fixed in new firmware. I would like to know the when we can expect firmware that’s solves the connected GPS problems? Are you even working on it? Please be clear with your answer. If the answer is ‘no’ I also would like to know it, so I can return it to the store under warranty.

I agree with everything you say, I am getting really frustrated and angry. My versa seemed to work ok with GPS. Now it is continuously dropping out. We need a fix or I am taking it back. My blaze worked fine with my phone definitely a versa issue

Same here. I can only track my bike mileage when connected to GPS but it never connects. Strava works fine but fitbit does log the miles

Not knowing what the all solutions are that have been tried, nor what type of phone the tracker is using for connected GPS, makes it hard to give a specific answer.
I find restarting the phone most of the times gets the Versa connected.
Yes I have noticed occasionally it losses connection on the Samsung S8. Usually I am good, but clearing unneeded apps out if memory has also helped.

It's working fine with my iPhone, although it can take a while to connect.
One time I did have a GPS graph full of holes, but it turned out that the button I was using to wake the screen and check my progress, also paused the workout.

My primary phone that I use with the Versa is the OnePlus 3T (Android 8). I know this is not on the support list, but I think that is not a problem because OnePlus is close to stock android. I also tried the connected GPS with a Samsung A5. This is a fairly standard phone, but it’s also not on the support list. The Samsung has the same problems with connected GPS.
Connecting to the phones with the Versa works fine. Everything synchronizes well except the GPS. I have read that other trackers from Fitbit with connected GPS do not have this problem so it seems to me the real problem is in the firmware.
I have already tried a lot to solve the problem myself, like:
I probably missed some. The forum is already full with this problem. It is getting frustrating to keep trying things that don’t work. I don’t want to spent more time to trying to fix this myself. The only thing I want to know from Fitbit is if they are working on new firmware that fixes the problem and when we can expect it.

Restarting my phone before every ride and going through all the steps listed is ridiculous. I used to have very similar issues with my Blaze and my Google Pixel, but their keep-alive widget really seemed to fix the problem in that case.
With the Versa and my Samsung S9+ I'm finding that it regularly loses GPS/connection to the phone during the rides such that my rides are 1/3rd as long as they really are according to fitbit. During the activity I've found turning bluetooth off/on can help me get connection back momentarily, but it usually drops out again a couple minutes later.
Consider me flummoxed.

My versa drops GPS every time I run. Even in a wide open space. I've done everything that is suggested on the forums. Nothing works.

I'm trying to track bike rides using my Versa and a Pixel 2. Sometimes, it's OK, but most of the time, it isn't. I'm hoping Fitbit can sort this out soon.

I need fitbit to fifix the connectioconnection issue before the time runs out for me to return it . I ran 8.5 miles today used endomondo app on my phone . my running partner used the Nike app and both apps were accurate . We ran in the open away from buildings and trees . This watch is a huge disappointmentdisappointment . Im not clearing and in uninstalling apps and Bluetooth before every run. Fitbit knows there is a problem with their watch so FIX IT! my watch wouldn't stay connected and caused my stats to be WAY wrong . Like my almost 20min mile pace! so frustrating . fitbit logged 5.96 for an 8.5 mile run

Im thinking the only solution is going to be to return it before stores return policy says its 2 late .
i could deal with a little off but its WAY OFF by miles!
Good luck to you in resolving your fitbit issue .

I contacted support with the question whether we can expect a solution to this problem. They say that there’s no information available of when a new firmware update will be released and if it fixes the problem.
I expect that the problem will never be solved. I therefore sent my Versa back to the webshop and got my money back (it didn't matter I already had it for a few months). In my opinion, the problem must be in the firmware. I now use my old Charge HR and tracking works flawlessly. The GPS signal is always good. The difference with the Versa is that you have to start the activity by phone and not via the watch. Probably something goes wrong with the communication with the phone. The disadvantage of the Charge HR is that tracking does not support cycling. I'm curious how the Charge 3 deals with this. Does this work as with the other charges or can we expect the same problems as with the versa?

On the phone I make sure that Fixed bit Notifications are running, if I haven't received any notifications in a while, then I start the walk recording on the wrist, wait for a connection and take off.
If your starting the recording on the phone needs, then your not using the Versa but using the Fitbit app.
