Which FitBit versions allow installation of apps?

I want to buy a FitBit in order this install an app that detects face-touching. The app page:

https://gallery.fitbit.com/details/52cedc2d-8343-4c30-89b3-b35772145d43

does not mention compatibility of versions; the Wikipedia page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitbit

does not mention when FitBit started allowing apps; and I found no relevant results for an online search for `fitbit starting version installing|installation apps|app|application|applications`. The answer might be so obvious that it's common knowledge for insiders and not for someone like who's never had a FitBit.

When did FitBit start allowing installation of apps?

Hi @bpew  Wikipedia can be edited by anyone who has an account there, so you can't go by what is on that page. You can go by whatever you find on the fitbit.com site, which includes their blog and news information. As for that app, you'd need to get with the developer since it's not an actual Fitbit developed app. Let us know what you find out. It might help others.
