Which is the best way to register "Bike"?-Versa

I have a Peloton bike that shares my workouts with Fitbit (similar to how Strava and other fitness apps link with a Fitbit account).

Typically when I use the bike, I won't toggle the exercise function on the watch. At the end of the workout, it shares the exercise with Fitbit's servers which adds the class I just took to my exercise log, combining the calorie burn, mileage, and total time from the bike with the heart rate data from the watch.

I'm wondering if there's any reason I should or shouldn't toggle the workout on the watch as well. I don't want the two sources of data to conflict with one another or cause double logging of anything, but also wonder if the device's heart rate polling might work better when the device knows you're in the middle of a workout, or if perhaps it won't register steps you're not taking when you toggle the spinning workout option on the Versa?

Tried Googling this without much luck. Thanks!

It's great to see you around @courageousrobot.

Regarding your inquiry, it will all depend on you. If you are seeing that so far your information is being registered correctly, you can continue using the app you have been using. If you want a map of your route, you can track the activity directly from your Versa.

For more information about this, you can check the How do I use exercise apps and modes on my Fitbit device? and What should I know about SmartTrack exercise detection? articles. Which I don't recommend, is to register the activity from the app you use and then log it in your Fitbit app since it might cause some discrepancies in your information since you are logging it twice.

I hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else. Smiley Happy
