This may be related to Android Pie as many users have been reporting problems. On the other hands, there are users on this forum who had some success syncing with pixel 3. Please search the forum for more info.

Keep in mind that the compatibility of a phone is important in order to have a successful connection between it and the Fitbit, please check our list of compatible mobile devices.
If your phone isn't listed, it doesn't meant that it won't work with your device but you might experience some connectivity issues. You can always try the instructions provide in the help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync? but I don't guarantee it will work 100%.
