Why am I getting billed for this?

For the past two months I’ve been getting billed for a Fitbit that I bought but in no way is it linked to me. It was a gift for a family member and we can’t figure out why I’m getting billed. On my bank statement it comes out as DRI*FITBIT,INC. XXXXXXX99 MN

Any information would be useful. Thank you

Hi @Guestaccount  you purchased the Fitbit using that same credit card? The only ongoing monthly fee would be for Premium and Coaching services. Have you asked your family member if they signed up for it?

You bought it as a gift for a family member, and now you are being billed for it.

I must be missing something. To me, that seems just the way it should be.

When I bought the Fitbit I bought premium as well but the first few months we’re supposed to be free. I bought it using the same credit card. The family member said they took off my card and put hers on but I’m getting billed and so is she.

@Guestaccount  when you sign up, your billing information is given, so your credit card is charged when that trial period is over. Family sure can be fun. I've asked a moderator to stop by to see what can be done in this situation.

Now I understand, though I don't know what to do about it.  From your first post, It sounded (to me) that you were objecting to being billed for the tracker purchase that you made.

Hi Guestaccount -

Very similar situation for me, with a credit card charge of $9.99 named DRI*FITBIT LLC just showing up on my wife's credit card.

She bought me a Fitbit about 6 months ago, which is linked to me on my iPhone, and not to her in any way.

I'm signed up for the free 6-month Premium Membership through my iPhone, which expires in another month and a half (end of December 2021).

My wife's account shows no active subscriptions.

Fitbit customer support can't even find the charge in their system so far.

This is very frustrating. This was supposed to be a nice gift from my wife, and now I want to just throw out the watch.

Probably the easiest way to fix the monthly charge is to cancel the Premium subscription on any accounts that might be, or have been, linked with the device.

I got this charge as well even after canceling the subscription well in advance before the trial period ending. After double checking that it was in fact cancel I contacted my credit card company to dispute this charge and get a new card issued. It's suspicious to me and I'd rather be safe that sorry since I've already attempted several ways to get an answer and got nowhere.

To check your charges on Android, click on the PlayStore icon on your phone, the account logo [top right], payments and subscriptions and make sure that you are not still subscribed.

The same thing has been happening to me since April 2022 and they claim I do not have an account and they are not charging me for any subscriptions. 0 help and have yet again had another charge pulled from my account.

This happened to me. I caught it on the first month.

I went to my account and looked at subscriptions. It stated that I had signed up for a free trial last year and that it had automatically rolled over into a paid one at the end of the free trial. There was a button to unsubscribe, which I did.

I assume there was small print explaining this when I subscribed, but I do not remember. It would have been nice if they had sent a reminder notice when the free trial was about to expire.

So, Recovery Runner, just go to your profile, click on  "my account", and unsubscribe.

I have a new system to keep track of this stuff. I keep a list of all subscriptions - start date, end date, monthly amount, link to my account., and any other info.  It is arranged by month. I check it once a month. I also keep such a list of warranties.

@JeanMR I found a notice that the trial was about to expire, in my spam folder after I was billed for another Month.
