Why are active minutes different on the Versa 2 Watch vs the website?

My active zone minutes on the website vs my Versa 2 are so different.  When I go to the app or the website it shows that the watch has just synched but the minutes on my watch this evening are showing 170 active minutes (I assume that is what the number means) and the website/app show me having about 100 active minutes.  Due to my overall displeasure with FitBit i still continue to use it but have also recently incorporated a Whoop into my tracking of activity and sleep data.  I will not bother to go down the path of how bad the sleep tracking is on the FitBit device compared to Whoop.  I have been loyal to Fitbit since the first tracker came out but going forward my time could be limited.  I am really hoping that I can get a solution to the void on my active minutes.

The Versa 2 was recently updated and one of the changes was a move from Active Minutes to Active Zone Minutes. The main difference is that the new measure is tailored to our fitness level but you can read more about the differences at https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1379.htm

Unfortunately, the dashboard at fitbit.com has yet to be updated and still shows the old Active Minutes. These should be ignored - the accurate information is shown on your fitbit and phone app.

I used to get 700-900 active minutes with my Versa 1 and now I'm lucky to get 150 minutes total in a week! This is a disappointing change, considering I'm still walking 3+ miles a day 6 days a week and getting in about 10,000-12,000 steps per day. Would love to be able to go by the Versa 1 metric.

I absolutely despise zone minutes. I walk everywhere (in SF so you know it’s hilly) and suddenly I go from averaging 100 minutes a day to 13? Not ok.
