Did somebody say you have to. You don't. Your Fitbit can store a week's worth of detailed data without syncing. But your phone app won't necessarily have current data. And if you wait too long, then have problems syncing, that could be an issue.

Hi there, @Cookie47. Welcome to the Community Forums.
As @JohnnyRow has mentioned, most Fitbit devices store up to 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. If you wait longer than 7 days before syncing, you may only see the most recent week's detailed data. Summary data (calories, distance, steps, and floors) will be stored for 30 days. Since your Versa 3 measures heart rate, summary heart rate data will be stored as well.

Hi @Cookie47 - I see your question differently. You shouldn't need to sync at all.
It is or should be automatic if things are working correctly.
If you have to manually sync then perhaps your phone is not correctly setup or is closing Bluetooth or the Fitbit App to save battery. If you can stop it doing that, it should work automatically.
But see also Why won't my Fitbit device sync?
