The swim tracking functionality of the Versa 2 has been reduced compared to the original, as it no longer displays laps or lengths and you can put in a time or distance target any longer.
The is a real reduction in functionality and it’s very disappointing. Is this feature going to be restored?

I cannot tell you how disappointing the loss of this feature is to me. I chose to continue with the Versa 2 after I lost my first Versa, not knowing that It didn’t count laps. I would not have bought it had I known.

The ONLY reason I bought the Versa is to track swimming (laps, distance & pace). Then I "upgraded" to the VERSA 2 and I want to throw it in the garbage. So many pools (especially lap pools) have a clock. I do not need to know the time when I am swimming. Bring back the feature or I would like a refund. I will go buy the Apple or the Garmin like I should have done in the first place.

@Fitbit any word on whether the realtime swimming laps, distance & pace feature will be returned to the Versa 2 with a firmware update?

I suspect fitbit is more concerned with expanding their platform than fixing firmware.

I have several issues with Fitbit's lack of consideration for customer needs. I am lucky enough that Fitbit eventually replaced my Versa (for the 2nd time) after the complete firmware failure saw mine become useless...others have not been so lucky. But my versa had to be replaced with Versa2 and I have lost this functionality - the main reason I chose versa in the first place. I have zero respect for this brand and will never give them any money again...am telling my friends the same. These forums are full of customers with problems that Fitbit have created but have no interest in solving.

The dumbest thing is that laps are still tracked but not displayed - you can see them in the app in activities.

The whole point off me buying the Versa 2 was for swimming g. I tried to use it pre lockdown and could not work out why I couldn’t see the number of lengths. What a waste of money. I already had the Fitbit blaze.

It has been nearly a year since the first post about this problem. Fitbit clearly has no interest in fixing it. I gave them time to figure it out- but now I tell everyone I know (& even strangers @ The gym) not to buy Fitbit anymore. They have too many competitors to not listen to what customers want. It does count your laps and will display on the app afterwards so it shouldn’t be difficult to fix the display.
I care about my laps WHILE I am swimming FITBIT. Not an hour later on my phone.

I just got the Versa2 as a gift to replace my broken Versa. I use this watch MOSTLY for swimming. I am stunned that they would remove the lap counter and calorie counter from the actual watch display. I have spent over 2 hours on the phone with various people at FitBit all of which have given me mixed info - some said it DID display I just needed to add it - others confirmed it did NOT. Well guess what it does NOT. They removed this feature and told me just to look at my phone app after I was done swimming. That is totally useless! I can't look at my phone while swimming so now I have to guess how many laps I'm doing while swimming at 2,400. I asked for a full refund but they are refusing to refund the warranty my husband purchased with the watch. I've had it less than 2 weeks. I am seriously appalled by the stupidity of design that went into this 'updated' watch. Don't even get me started on the **ahem**ic charger they put together for the Versa2. Total useless piece of junk all around.

I agree with everything you stated. Now I use a water bottle and move it along the pool tiles to count laps!! I am looking into options for a different watch/tracker. Suggestions welcome.

I am very disappointed that laps are not shown on the Versa2 as it was on the earlier version. This is why I purchased this device; to help me monitor where I am in accomplishing lap goal. When you swim 80+ laps; this function helps one keep on track. Please add back.

I'd like to add myself to the list of users extremely disappointed to find out what a downgrade the Versa 2 is for swimmers. I'm telling everyone I know how disappointed I am with my second Fitbit. I will change my tune if this changes.

Looks like the NEW Versa 3 will count laps! Fitbit just wanted people to buy a new watch rather than updating Versa 2

I totally agree and am too very disappointed by this. I loved the functionality of my Versa 1 as I swim 3 or so times a week. When my Versa 1 broke last week Fitbit replaced it with a Versa 2. Very disappointed.

Also very disappointed, i received my versa 2 today and assumed i would track swimming like Charge 3 which was broken twice in 1 year and 3 months so couldn't be replaced and I didn't want to change a third. Can't believe it's water proof to 50 meters but doesn't track swimming like the Chage. I might try the Charge 4 but after the Charge 3 broke twice after a few months I don't know if i trust the charge. My Alta HR still works from over 2 years ago.

Also completely disappointed by this. I actually didn't buy a Versa2 - I had a versa, died. Second Versa, died. Third Versa, Died. I thought, if they arent going to replace this one im just going to get a garmin. But they gave me a fourth Versa but upgraded to a Versa2 and now this - No lengths counted. How bizarre to remove this function? And a change in charger makes all my other charges now useless.
I've had good experiences with customer service who have continuously replaced my dead versas but come on, what's going on fitbit?
I can stop in the middle of the pool and ask Alexa the latest covid information but cant find out what lengths ive done? .. 😕
