The swim tracking functionality of the Versa 2 has been reduced compared to the original, as it no longer displays laps or lengths and you can put in a time or distance target any longer.
The is a real reduction in functionality and it’s very disappointing. Is this feature going to be restored?

One of the reasons I got this watch was because others said I could view lap count in real time. This is disappointing if true.

My thoughts exactly! I am so upset that they got rid of this function, as it is one of the main reasons I purchased this watch. I called Customer Service and the two had no idea what I was even talking about...hopefully this will get fixed soon because I’m considering just returning it.

I agree. I’m very disappointed with this.
Hope Fitbit will update the software in order to add this feature. Any news about this?

I don't understand why an updated model would remove a function... I was considering buying the Versa2 to replace my broken Apple Watch, but without this functionality I will have to find another option!

Yes, very disappointing and annoying indeed. Really hoping Fitbit will fix this soon with an update

Measuring swim lengths was one of the main reasons I purchased this watch. It worked fine on Versa 1 but on Versa 2 it is broken. The only ‘goal’ you are allowed to set is the amount of time you are in the pool. Totally useless. If it is not fixable I would like to have a refund.

I agree. Also, I thought the Versa 1 recorded heart rate while swimming, and the Versa 2 explicitly does not

How are 'calories burned' calculated without heart rate data or accurate lap counts?

I was just trying to figure out why my Versa 2 does not have the same capability of the Versa 1 and I'm extremely disappointed and quite frustrated. My friend got the Versa 1 and I begged my Husband to buy it for me for Christmas but it was hard to find the Versa I so I have the Versa 2. I went swimming the other day and noticed that while its tracking the only screen I can see is the timer screen but it does not show me how many laps I've already swam. I'm completely dissatisfied and annoyed about. The only reason I even was willing to spend this much on a Fitbit was for its swimming feature and I feel like I got dupped. Why would they go backwards on a feature, doesn't make any sense.

I purchased the Versa 2 for my wife to replace her original Versa which she loved but stopped working after 2 x years.
Her main activity is swimming and as you can imagine, she was extremely disappointed that functionality available in the original Versa has been removed. i.e. Not able to see lengths completed whilst swimming and not able to pause a session.
I would like to ask the MODERATOR to respond here to give a clear indication of Fitbit's commitment to resolve this.
As an ex IT professional, I was involved in multiple Software implementations and updates.
This is not a "FUTURE ENHANCEMENT" but a "RESTORE of FUNCTIONALITY". The coding is already available, (possible minor tweeks to take into account missing buttons), so it isn't rocket science.
PLEASE MODERATOR - Respond and let your users and our community know if they can reasonably expect the functionality to return and an estimated timeline or is it lost forever. Just be honest and open.

THANK YOU!!! I've posted a complaint as well on here. I even chatted with someone at Fitbit who literally told me my only option was to submit my complaint on the forum.
My husband also bought me the Versa 2 (per my request). My friend has the Versa and I made my decision on which watch to get (I previously had a Swim Garmin) based on the ability my friend had on her Versa. My main activitiy is Swimming and Hiking and when I took my first swim with the new watch I was extremely irritated and let down that I couldn't even see how many laps I swam. The basic function of any swim functionality on a device should be LAP COUNTING! It only shows me a timer, which is not helpful. Thank you I'm aware of my time I'm looking at a swim clock! I'm also sometimes swimming 3-4 miles consistently without stopping and having to keep track of my laps in my head which is what the purpose of the Versa 2 was for.
I'm completely baffled as to how a device that was supposed to be an upgrade completely removed a very IMPORTANT FUNCTION OF A SWIM FEATURE. Obviously the developers had no idea what SWIMMING WAS ABOUT. I'm so upset and rethinking my allegiance to Fitbit!

Did anybody get an answer as to why there is no swimming lap counting in the Versa 2 while there is in the original Versa? It really is a great feature for swimmers who swim more than a few laps.
?????

They said that it wasn't an added feature in the Versa 2 and could not explain to me why they would downgrade a feature in a product that was supposed to be an upgrade. They also had no solution as to when/if they would ever be updating it.
WASTE OF MONEY if you bought the Versa 2 for the swimming functionality. I'm super pissed off about it and extremely let down. What is the point in seeing a freaking stop watch while swimming? I need to see my lap count! The developers must not be very smart.

Looks like my request to the MODERATOR fell on deaf ears. It appears there is zero interest from Fitbit to resolve this.
So disappointing.

They seem to reply to people on Facebook it looks like. I placed my review. Maybe if everyone started leaving negative reviews on their Facebook page they'll listen.

I used my Versa 2 for the first time in the pool today. I'm so so disappointed that it didn't show how many lengths I had done. Just how long I had been swimming 😔 Honestly, I cant believe it. Ended up counting my lengths, what a pointless bit of kit for me! Lost count of course... I was two short of what I estimated and wanted to achieve, very annoying 🙄

Everyone in this thread should leave a 1-star review on whatever platform was used to purchase the watch (i.e. Amazon). Can't say I'm surprised we're being ignored on this forum. Hit them where it hurts and they may pay attention.

I thought it was something I did not set up right. I'm going to return it and use my old Versa 1 or buy a different brand that is rated better for swimming.
