Why is my Versa2 logging 62k steps in 15 minutes when I've not moved?

At least once a week my fitbit goes crazy and logs way too many steps in one go (at least 30k steps).  Today I've been sat on the sofa and it's just buzzed showing I've done my 10k steps and when I looked it has logged 62k steps - I've not moved!!

This is so annoying as it makes the weekly steps wildly inaccurate.

Anyone know how I can solve this?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Josiejo101127.

Thank you for the information provided.

In this case I would recommend restarting your Fitbit Versa 2 by following these instructions.

The dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. Your dominant hand is the one you use for writing and eating. This setting can be found in the online Dashboard fitbit.com > Settings > Devices >  Versa 2 > Wrist.

For instructions on how to negate the extra data, please visit this article and open the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".
