WiFi can’t find Versa

I bought a Versa.  I also bought a new laptop, Dell Inspiron 15 3000 because my old laptop had Windows 7 and couldn’t handle the Versa.  When I tried to connect the Versa to the laptop using WiFi, I got a message that the laptop couldn’t find the Versa.  Everything was physically sitting right next to the WiFi router, and I had Google Chrome open on my laptop.  I finally got so frustrated that I gave up.

then I bought an iPhone XR, thinking I’d have better luck with a phone since Fitbit is trying to get everyone to sync that way.  I got the Versa to sync to the phone, but then it was taking forever (hours) to update.  I read on the Forum that I should update via WiFi instead of Bluetooth.  I don’t have WiFi where I am now, but I do have a second phone with mobile hotspot capability.  I turned that on but got the same message:  cannot find device.

i am so frustrated with Fitbit’s user-unfriendliness!!!!  Can anyone advise me how to get my Versa to update?  Thanks.

@tickedoff12 You will need to get a dongle for your laptop unless it has a bluetooth connectivity and can be paired with Versa. Versa syncs your stats via Bluetooth. Re iPhone experience, honestly if you do not have WIFI, I would update Versa over Bluetooth even if it takes hours. But, of course, you can attempt adding WIFI hotspot in your Fitbit mobile app while setting up Versa and try this way. Reboot your iPhone and Versa first though.
