WiFi doesn't stay connected in Versa

Is the Wifi supposed to stay connected if I am in my home where I connected it at or does it disconnect after a certain amount of time?

Obviously it will disconnect after I leave my house, but will it reconnect automatically when I come back into my house?

Mine does not appear to be staying connected and I am having sync issues (just restarted my Versa) so will see if that helps, but not sure what to look for on the Wifi issue.

Thank you.

What is the timeline for Wi-Fi to be enabled, or is all the marketing a blatant deception?

It's not a hardware limitation. It would have to be FitBit disabling the transmission of a few MBs per day, but allowing GBs of audio. That just makes no sense at all

If Wi-Fi isn't available for the core functionality of the device, it should be stricken from the product description entirely

Regarding the syncing issues you have mentioned, note that your information won't sync using the WiFi network you have configured on your tracker.

Hello @Toochi, nice to see you again in the Fitbit Community! I saw you are having some questions regarding the WiFi settings configured in your Fitbit Versa.

According to our help article: How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?It automatically connects to an available Wi-Fi network when plugged into the charger.

Regarding the syncing issues you have mentioned, note that your information won't sync using the WiFi network you have configured on your tracker. This works to download playlists and apps from the Fitbit App Gallery, and for faster firmware updates. For syncing issues, I recommend the following steps: Having trouble syncing? (here's how to fix this)

See you around and hope this helps.

I am having the same problem.  Mine connects to the wifi but when I leave the house and come back i have to reconnect to the wifi.  Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue except it requires me to re-enter my password in the app Everytime my phone goes to sleep. It's impossible to get my Pandora playlists to download 😞

As far as I know the Versa will only connect to WiFi when it's needed. That will be for transferring music to your device, faster app downloads from the app gallery and for faster OS updates. Also note that Wi-Fi won’t work on your watch when the battery level is below approximately 25%.

From what you are saying it would appear that your Versa is behaving normally regarding WiFi.

As for your syncing issues the Versa will only sync via Bluetooth, WiFi isn't used for syncing purposes. You may wish to check out the help article why won't my fitbit device sync?, follow the troubleshooting steps and see if that solves your sync issue.

I have a new Versa, handed over my charge 2 to hubby. First couple of days was fine but now less than a week later my Fitbit will not connect to WiFi at all, comes up saying “cannot locate device try again”. Nada. It will not keep steps, stairs, sleep (the basics) updated at all. I am ready to return to Fitbit and take back my charge 2. Very unhappy !

Did you turn off the power saver feature on phone, it made all the difference for me. You may need to contact where you got for an exchange if it continues. I have even downloaded music and use wireless earplugs with great success. Wish you luck

Versa seems to have problems with reconnecting. It has happened multiple times during the two months my wife has used it. The tracker also starts to lag, a press of a button takes several seconds before the display is reacting. Restart of the tracker is needed.

Thanks. I did try restarting/booting my tracker and that ended up working. It has done the same thing once more. Very annoying but at least I know what to do now

Quite simply, to save power.

Its not necessary to enter the password each time and manually connect. Your Versa will automatically use WiFi if and when it's needed, which will be when you put it on charge (to update apps), or for the transfer of music to your device.

For what reason are you insisting on permanently staying connected to WiFi? The battery life would be awful.

it drops wi fi after 20 seconds and won’t connect until I enter password again every 20 seconds

wont show my sleep patterns either but that another problem
