WiFi doesn't stay connected in Versa

ANSWERED

Is the Wifi supposed to stay connected if I am in my home where I connected it at or does it disconnect after a certain amount of time?

Obviously it will disconnect after I leave my house, but will it reconnect automatically when I come back into my house?

Mine does not appear to be staying connected and I am having sync issues (just restarted my Versa) so will see if that helps, but not sure what to look for on the Wifi issue.

Thank you.

You may wish to read this help article regarding WiFi on your device. As I mentioned before, WiFi isn't required for anything other than app updates, music transfer and faster FW updates. Everything else is done over Bluetooth. Without knowing your complete setup, it's hard to know why you may be having issues. Some users have found the issue to be with their router.

As for the sleep tracking, have you tried restarting your device? Also make sure your device isn't too loose when you go to bed, it needs to be tight enough to get a good HR reading.

Thanks for trying to answer my problem. I have read every thing I can find about wi fi with this device. It states no where that I have to enter password to connect to wi fi. Like I said 20 seconds tops. Why does it even let me sign in if it is going to go off in 20 seconds?

on the sleep patterns I have tried everything, first four nights nothing worked for two nights nothing in past week. The main reason I got watch was for the sleep patterns I sleep with a mask on, I really do need the correct readings. Really the only thing I can get watch to do is tell time. It says I want 850 steps today. I left the sofa one time while it was on my arm walked maybe 30ft.

the other day I had this watch and another device when I walked two miles, the other device was right, my watch said I walked just a little over a thousand steps. I feel like for the price all I should have to do is set it up and go. I have spent hours on watch trying to get it working correct. It is not so far.

when I ask the help section it is never answered. It’s answered some way but not the question I ask.

no one has yet to tell me why watch will not stay connected but 20 seconds then I have to re enter password. That should be a easy question.

Mine stayed connected once I took my phone off power saver. Think it is connected to bluetooth. If you continue to have problems return it to store.

Hello everone, I hope you're doing well. Thanks for all your help @N8teGee, it's always nice to see you around. Smiley Happy

@Jimd72, I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. At this moment, if you're still having trouble with the WiFi connection on your phone please check this help article: Why won't my Fitbit watch connect to WiFi? Please keep in mind that you do not need to type the password every time your phone is about to connect to WiFi when transferring music or when updating, the two main reasons why your watch connects to WiFi.

With that said, your watch will connect to WiFi when you transfer music or update the watch, and will disconnect if you have connected it and you're not doing any of those processes, this is normal and designed to not drain the battery on your watch.

Now, when it comes to Sleep Stages on your watch, please note that the Fitbit app currently has in-app error notifications that provide an explanation for why you aren't receiving Sleep Stages on any given night. This is meant to provide insight into what might be occurring to cause this. The error messages are the following:

  1. We need more than 3 hours of sleep to reliably calculate your sleep stages. Learn more
  2. Your tracker couldn't get a consistent heart rate reading while you slept. Learn more
  3. We couldn’t generate sleep stages for this sleep. Please try again tomorrow. Learn more

When you tap on Learn more, you will be able to get more information about why your tracker didn't record sleep stages. Additionally, I'd like to suggest the following:

  • For any of the nights you were expecting to see Sleep Stages, did you ever click on the "Begin Sleep Now" or "Add Sleep Log" functions within the Fitbit App?
    • This is important to note because your tracker uses auto-detection to track Sleep Stages; so there's no need to try and remember to click on anything before falling asleep!
  • Do you have at least 3 consecutive hours of sleep?
    • This is important to note because you typically won't see sleep stages if you are waking up multiple times through out the night or taking short naps.
  • Your tracker's battery isn't at a critically low level prior to falling asleep.
  • Your device is tracking and syncing heart rate data.
    • This is important because Sleep Stages uses a combination of your movement and heart-rate patterns.
  • Your Fitbit App is updated to the latest version.

I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Hi

thanks for trying to answer and trying to help me. In everything your wrote I have already read all that the info at least a dozen times and checked to make sure there were no problems on my side.

there still is. Nothing has changed.

again I have did everything you have suggested I Do.

i just want an plain English answer to my questions? I want a direct answer not an answer that sends me here and their. I have done tried all the chasing your tail questions,

1. Why won’t my watch stay connected to wi-fi over 20 seconds and why do I have to renter the password?again I want a direct answer. Please don’t send me to where I should look that is a waste of time.

2. This is what I got the watch for.

i need a detailed sleep study.

why is my watch not showing that?

again I want a direct answer,

i have read all the information and no where in that class information does it state how come. The statements make all kinds of excuses but does not answer my question.

3. How come my watch reads that I took 700 steps when I never got off the sofa?

again I want a direct answer.

with all this wrong with my watch it makes me doubt what else in not accurate. Right now all I have is a $200 watch that tells time.

i have spent hours researching this toy.

do far no answers to very simple questions

please I need a direct answer to my questions, please don’t send me a place to check under I have already did all of that at least a dozen times and for hours. Why can’t I find an answer to these simple questions?

thanks for any help.

I am a 70 year old woman that is just trying to be nice. If you are on the couch and move your watch arm or move around alot it might mistake that movement as a step. You are only connected to Wi-Fi if you are in the charger. If you bought this for sleep study return it to store or Fitbit for a replacement as it could just be a lemon. Fitbit has always been nice when I wrote them.

Thanks

i am 66 years old, hard to figure this stuff out.

thanks for you reply.

i do wonder why don’t fi it mention this anywhere that watch only is on Wi- fi on charge. When I do connect it to Wi-fi it stays on for about 20 seconds. Then I have to the enter password.

on the step count, is that the way the watch just is?

i really don’t understand if I am not walking it counts steps? So I am walking on my arms? Ha! Again this is not nowhere in there info.

maybe I do have a lemon.

thank you so much for replying.

have a good weekend

I had been a cheerleader for the fitbit the first eight months I had it, downloaded music worked great. Now I have a difficult time. I was able to download a clock face when I used my android phone but not when I used my IPad. Wonder if there was a software update that caused my issues.
Keep trying

I had a bit of trouble but was patient and after it thought about 20 minutes it connected. Patience is not my strong suit.
