I found after having switched mobile devices and my iphone still had the fitbit app on it caused some synching issues. Uninstall the app in all devices might help resolve synching issues.

My versa stopped working too, so on advice on the forum I did a factory reset, uninstalled the app, removed All my Bluetooth items, shut down my phone, did the set up process god knows how many times I’ve done this but nothing, all that is on my versa screen is the battery icon which is fully charged as it’s been sitting in the charger for the last 7 hours whilst I’ve been trying to get the thing working and the diamond logo and on my phone it’s just searching all the time and states it’s not working.... well surprise surprise I can see that it’s not working. I’m using iPhone 7+ which is up to date. I brought my versa in February this year so it’s only 5 months old!!

ive done all you’ve suggested and it’s NOT working

I did a Factory reset of my Versa Lite watch. I never knew, my watch will stop working due to it. Surprising, is it? Now Fitbit app is asking to update OS. Tried many times to update but never completed successfully. I tried resetting the watch, removing and adding the device in the app., reconfiguring Bluetooth by adding & removing the device on Andriod setting, etc. It takes enormous time and fails every time. Really irritating. Any real solution for this. How much time does it take to update OS? Please help

I am facing the same problem. The app can't seem to find the watch after factory reset. I did the factory reset because it wasn't syncing... What do I do?????

No light is blinking behind the watch too

Out of nowhere today, this has happened to me.

Tracked my walk this morning but needed to do something with my Versa as my map tracking wasn't working (distance tracking was working but the maps just showed dots where I start and finish).  Initially I was going to check my Exercise settings but when I tried it post-walk, on selecting 'exercise' it just went back to the main watch face.  I've now done a factory reset and it won't reconnect to my phone.  I have done the bluetooth off/on, phone off/on.  I don't really want to delete the app and reinstall as I don't want to lose my data but it shouldn't be this difficult!!  I've had no other major difficulties with my watch so for this to just happen out of nowhere is puzzling and annoying.

Except there's no easy way to run setup again once the app is on your phone and associated with an account.  So it just restores what I had...

Useless  I may try setting up a new account, then syncing to that.

@PaulRW It's good that the community is growing!

Let me help you with this. It is actually a really simple process to setup a tracker on an account. After you have Factory Reset your device just tap the top left icon, then select the Setup a Device option and it will guide you through the setup process. You can read more about the setup process here.

Let me know how it goes.

Yes, we all get that this is supposed to work in the "good weather" scenario. Obviously, it is not working on our devices, because something is wrong, not because we don't understand. This is the conversation we are having: "My car doesn't start". Answer: "Please put the key in the ignition and turn it". "I did. My car still doesn't start". Answer: "Please take out the key. Leave the car. Close the doors. Open the car. Put the key in the ignition and turn it". "My car still doesn't start", and repeat ad infinitum. This is no help at all!

Thanks to one of Fitbit's last resort "tips" I did a factory reset, and now all I have left is a message "Download the Fitbit app to get started" on the display and a useless message in my Fitbit app on my phone trying to set up the device that says: "Press the button several times. If nothing appears, you may need to charge the device". Again: completely useless advice: the device is 100% charged! So is there any other advice? No, of course not. Have you not heard of the "else" clause? The only thing you offer is a TRY AGAIN button, which I have pressed a million times without ANY result.

At least before the factory reset, the watch would tell time. Now it doesn't even do that. Thanks a lot Fitbit. For sure I will never ever buy one of your products again, nor will my friends. Wat a terrible product. How difficult is it to get a Bluetooth stack up and running? Five dollar audio devices from China can do it.

Hi!

I got mine work. Watch is Versa and phone Huawei P30.

I proceeded next...

I did factory reset in settings, nothing. Then I did factory reset using hardware.

  • On the watch, hold three buttons for at least twelve seconds. This shows 2-buttons hardware reboot after eight seconds
  • Now when you see the Fitbit logo and it disappears, leave the bottom right button and then continue to hold the left button with top-right buttons unless it vibrates. This shows that the factory reset was started.
  • Then Versa displayed next - red X and the message: Data not cleared Sync & try again message.
  • The way I resolved this was to go into the fitbit app in my phone and remove the device from there, I also went into the Bluetooth settings on my phone and unpaired it from there.
  • Then I did couple times restart using buttons. (Simply press and hold back and bottom buttons for 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears on the screen.)
  • I was then able to go back into the Fitbit app - set up device - and proceed to set up the device again.
  • I left it update for the night and in the morning versa worke again

So I was able to solve the issue thanks to no help from Fitbit.

The problem is that after you do a factory reset, the PIN code you used to authorize the device has changed and the authorization between the Fitbit and the phone is messed up. To solve this, you need to remove the authorized devices.

In the Fitbit app, under Account (click on your picture) -> Account Settings -> Authorized Devices, remove your phone (and all other devices you want to sync again with your Fitbit).

After that, I was able to setup the Fitbit again.

I hope this tip will help others facing similar issues.

I have the same issue of it won't connect to app after a factory rest. My versa 2 now connects to blue tooth but it won't connect to the app, it just keeps asking if it turned on and telling me to put it on charge when it is fully charged and on. I have restarted several dozen times already, the phone, the app and the device. Still no luck
