@HannahS1987 really glad to hear it! Thanks for taking the time for letting us know.
@Marrrmaduke thanks for calling this out. We hear a lot of the problems on the forums but it's always good to be reminded that there are lots that love their Versa. (myself included)

Funny because Fitbit Customer Service told me today there is a known issue since 12/12/18 with text notifications with the Versa using the Samsung Note 8. That is one day before this users post so which is it??

Mine had never worked consistently with my Samsung Galaxy note 8. It will sync if I delete the versa from my Bluetooth devices, turn off Bluetooth, reboot my phone, reboot my watch, then turn on Bluetooth again, but won't reliably stay connected longer than a couple minutes after doing that. I get glimpses of an awesome watch from time to time, but the longer this goes on, the more I'm ready to give up on Fitbit entirely after 7 years.

@Tromie have you tried downgrading Fitbit mobile app? Try installing version 2.74.2.

I bought the Versa on Dec 13th. All I can say is it is still working perfectly with my Note 8. I haven't had any problems. I was so scared at first after seeing all the reviews and I said to myself, Ill try it and see if it works and if not I will return it. So far I am loving it.

I've had mine since May. It worked great in the beginning too.

@Marrrmaduke no, how can I do that?

@Tromie google Fitbit 2.74.2 APK file. There are sites like this one that will provide you with it. Also you will need to enable unknown sources in your phone settings. Google for more instructions. Then uninstall your current Fitbit app and simply tap and install the APK file that you downloaded (it should be in your Androids Downloads). Done.

I so agree about giving up the Fitbit. I have been a member for 6 years and owned the ONE and Charge - with my Note 8. This Versa has given me nothing but grief. I am over it. I was hoping Note 8 would be better once I saw Note 9 was added to the list. Last night alone, it took me nearly 2 hours to sync following all the steps you posted. #2Merch

My VERSA never provided text notifications and sporadic call notifications.

I completely understand. The note 8 is not a supported device, and Fitbit support's only suggestion was for me to use a different device to sync. Nope, I'm not getting rid of my excellent phone because Fitbit can't make their app and devices work with it. I sold my versa to someone who had a supported device (I made them double check and warned them of my experience) I'm moving to the Samsung Galaxy watch.
My old charge HR still syncs reliably enough and my son was thrilled to get it.

Tromie you and I are "in Sync". I acquired a Samsung Galaxy watch in November and simply adore it. Just trying to figure out how to get those stats to sync with Weight Watchers app. I purchased the Galaxy watch because the Versa syncs were not reliable. But I can understand why your son likes the Charge. It was good to me also. I plan on selling my rose gold Versa this weekend. Nice reminder about advising the buyers to investigate device compatibility.

One other thought: Fitbti support informed no fit bit device is "officially" Note 8 compatible. I guess I got lucky my Note 8 worked well with the ONE, Charge, and Charge HR. Go Figure.
