Wrong calculation of calories shown

I am using Versa 3 for almost a year. If I keep walking without enabling the excercise mode, it automatically detects and calculates the distance, calories burnt, heart rate, steps etc. But the calories burnt shows a wrong value. I used to walk around 5.5 to 6.5 kms a day for which it shows 1000+ calories as calories burnt which is wrong. At the same time if I enable excercise mode for walk and of i walk the same distance, it shows only 400 to 500 calories was burnt. There is a contradiction on the data reported. Can any one suggest me a solution for this issue?

It sounds like in one case, you are talking distance walked in the whole day; in the other case, talking about calories burned on a certain walk.

Can you clarify are you talking about calories burned during a discrete walk, or the calories burned for the day?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
