Yearly steps on app doesn't match yearly steps on dashboard

Using the android app when I open the Step **ahem** and see steps per week there is an option to see steps for 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 1 year.  When I click on the 1 year, it shows steps from Feb 11, 2020 to today (Jan 16 2021).  If I move the page to show different "1 year" spans, even yesterday it shows the full 12 month period. 

What is going on here?

Notice those numbers change a bit if you slide the graph a bit either way, too.

The way I trust numbers for a set time period is from the fitbit.com dashboard.

Fitbit.com dashboard > Log > Activities. Then via calendar icon near top right, you can enter exact starting and ending dates (I find it confusing to click on calendar and prefer to enter dates manually), and it gives you bar chart with exact #s underneath.

But there is a problem with the app that only gives 11 months from today

I have been asking Fitbit Versa users on Facebook if they too have this issue and there are others so can someone please take a look at the android app and Fitbit please get it fixed!!!!!  Thanks.
