My fitbit versa has had issues with heart rate monitoring since the first day - it will read 80bpm when I'm running on a treadmill, then after multiple attempts to wake it up, it will finally start reading more accurately in the 120-170 region. When I'm running intervals on treadmills it often doesnt capture the increase in HR (1 minute on, 1 minute off), leading to inaccurate caloric burn and heart rate recording. The last two nights as well the sleep tracking has gone back to basic - I have not changed anything, yet now it is not working. It is still recording HR throughout the night, so its not that it couldnt get a read.
I have moved it to various places up and down my wrist (as per Fitbits instructions), cleaned the sensor, reset, rebooted, resync'd, changed wrists (for exercise, not for sleep at this stage), followed all documentation aimed at improving and its just getting worse. Is there anything else I can try to improve my HR recording? Else, its pretty useless - I bought it as a fitness tracker, and would like to use it for its intended purpose. I can buy a much cheaper digital watch.

Fixed my issue - took out back to where I purchased it for an exchange for a Garmin. I've had fitbits for the last 7 years ago or so, but this was the last straw. Shop attendant told me that the versas had a terrible return rate as well - heart rate issues as most common reported issues. Good luck everyone.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @SunsetRunner. Sorry for the delayed response.
I regret to hear that your Fitbit Versa is not recording either your heart rate nor your sleep stages properly. Thank you for the troubleshooting steps you've performed before contacting us.
On this case, I would recommend turning the heart rate off and then back on. From your watch, please open the Settings app and find Heart Rate.
If this doesn't help, you can perform a factory reset by following the next steps, but keep in mind that your apps, stored data, personal information, credit and debit cards, and saved settings will be deleted from your device:
On your device, open the Settings app > About > Factory Reset or Clear User Data.
If you have any question, please don't hesitate to contact us back at any time.

Hi there
It worked well for a day and then back to bad behaviour. I have turned off via the device, reset device, unpaired and repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled and it's still not accurately recording my heartrate. What next?
