iOS Bedtime reminder notification not forwarded to Versa (all other notifications work)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I understand that (currently) Versa isn’t equipped with automatic bed time reminders, as my previous Charge 2 was.

I read in some threads here (like this and this) that an easy way around is to forward to the watch the phone bedtime notification, by adding the Fitbit app to the list of apps that can forward notifications to my Versa. Despite having done so, I still don’t receive on the Versa neither the bedtime notification nor any other Fitbit notification. Notifications from all other apps seem to work properly. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a known issue with notification coming from the Fitbit app?

Mine doesn’t forward the bedtime reminders from my phone to my versa either.

Can I ask if you have an IOS device too? All of the people I talk to that seem to make it work are android users. I’m starting to think it might be an iOS issue.

@Enriss  I'm Android.  Samsung Galaxy S7 as in my signature.  I didn't realize this was a feature exclusive to Android.

@kcronin thanks for your kind reply! I wrote last post poorly without tagging @Jayelo (who seem to have my same issue). I too have enabled the reminder from the Fitbit app sleep menu (see pic), and in fact I do receive the bedtime reminder on my iPhone. It’s the notification forwarding to my Versa that’s not working, despite all of the right settings. 59936254-1143-49C0-B483-8A971A7549AF.jpeg

So, I do get the bedtime notifications from my phone app to my versa. Which is a good thing. I just wish it would come from the versa like the hourly step reminders so I don’t have to always leave my Bluetooth on to get it.

This did work on iPhone but now appears to have stopped working.

I have just changed the bedtime reminder time to 5 minutes from now, and tested it several times and it no longer works, the message pops up on iPhone but not on the Versa.

Tried disabling and re-enabled various settings for notifications but nothing. Have Fitbit changed something in the last app update?

Notifications for emails and text messages still appear on my Versa but notifications from the Fitbit app do not appear on Versa.

Anyone using iPhone who can confirm this still works with the latest Fitbit App v2.52 (765) and Versa using latest Firmware?

@ErickFitbit could you look into this, it seems that on iOS users can not forward Fitbit Notifications onto the the Versa and Ionic. We have similar threads on both boards.

I'm referring to notifications like

Time to wind down for bed

Sally invited you to the weakend challange

Meghan is on your tail.

On Android by simply choosing Application Notifications and enabling Fitbit all of these notifications are sent to the Versa and Ionic.

However with the same settings. in iOS it seems to be not the case.

Hi @TempestFire. I sync my Ionic to an iPhone 6. I do not use the notifications described in this thread, so the Fitbit notifications in my iPhone Settings are set to Off. I opened my iPhone Fitbit app and tried to turn on sleep notifications and received this message: Notifications are turned off for Fitbit. You can turn on notifications for this app in Settings.” It gives me a link to my iPhone settings. Based on this, here is what I recommend for the IOS users who are trying to push sleep notices to their Ionic device:

  1. Go to the iPhone Settings. (Not the Fitbit app)
  2. At the main Settings screen, scroll down to Fitbit. Tap to open, then make sure Notifications are set to On. From there, you can set all kinds of things, The screen shot below shows most of the options.
  3. Exit properly to make sure your settings are saved.
  4. Power the iPhone off. Wait a couple minutes. Power it back on.
  5. Restart your Ionic. Instructions are here.

  1. Open the Fitbit app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap to open the sleep tile. Tap the Settings gear. Turn on Sleep Notifications.
  3. Exit out properly, using the Done or back arrow at the top, left of the screen. This is important.
  4. Manually sync your Ionic twice.

Hopefully, this will get all the various settings in both the iPhone and the Ionic correct and in sync. Sometimes, it is not enough to do all the right things. When dealing with different devices from different companies, it is important to do things in the right order to get them “talking” to each other.

Please let us know if it helps.

Carol thanks for the detailed process, however I have all the iOS notifications set on and background app refresh and Sleep notifications are on in the Fitbit app.

Additionally and most important you need to select the Versa (or Ionic) in the Fitbit app select notifications, then app notifications and make sure you turn on the Fitbit app there.

All other app notifications work and Fitbit did work, its stopped working recently, possibly due to the last Fitbit app update.

Thanks for the comments and clarification, @TempestFire. Sorry it did not work. @Rich_Laue asked a moderator to look into this situation. Hopefully he will jump in. You can also check with Support, making it clear to them the trouble shooting you’ve done in the Forum and the fact that two Community Council members (Rich and myself) are stumped. If you get a resolution, please let us know.

@SunsetRunner Thanks for your effort. As per @TempestFire though, all of the notification options in my iPhone settings are configured correctly. Hence, the Fitbit app should be able to push its notifications to the Versa, as all other apps are able to do. I guess something must have changed with the most recent Fitbit app update.

I'm having the same problem since (finally) running the Fitbit update when I got a new phone last week and had to pair with it. I had held off performing the update as my phone call/text notifications (which had been working, then not working) had been working and I didn't want to update and possibly break that. Prior to implementing the Fitbit update, I was receiving bed time reminders on my phone and on the Versa. After the update, I'm only getting them on my phone (and tablet). I've checked all the settings. It just doesn't work. Planning to submit a ticket to support.
