I just got this thing and I FINALLY got it to sync with my phone and when I try to connect it to Alexa it just says "unable to connect: there was an error connecting to your amazon account. please try again"

Rebooted Versa 2

Cleared cache in chrome

rebooted phone

Other apps like spotify sync fine. However, I can not get the alexa part to work.

I figured it out! Thanks to the community I found that I was running the beta app and it wouldn't work with it. Uninstalled beta and boom it works! Good luck!

"Cleared cache in chrome"? What does this have to do with Alexa?

Do you have the Alexa app on your phone? Did you sign in to your Amazon account?

It's what I could find online.

It's literally also what chat support had me do when I contacted them.

And yes I already have the app (I have gen1 alexa echo) on my phone and it loads/works fine.

Right now I'm doing a factory reset, per support suggestion and try again.

They tried to tell me the pixel 4xl wasn't supported even though it's literally the same thing as a pixel 4 but with a bigger screen and battery. If it's not supported, why is the alexa app the only thing that's not working?

After the factory reset I'll try reinstalling the alexa app but after that I don't know.

Nope, can't get it to connect with Facebook, says "can't link accounts. one of these accounts is already linked" which makes zero sense. I have 1 facebook and 1 fitbit account. (there are no fb permissions in https://www.fitbit.com/settings/applications ). I can sign into fitbit with facebook. I can NOT add friends via facebook. If it has permissions for one, it should have permissions for another.

I also still can not for the life of me get it to connect with Alexa. It does everything else though. Really cool that a major feature just doesn't work.

edit: I also get a 404 error when trying to add friends manually https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Android-App/quot-Failed-to-Send-Friend-Request-quot-Error/td-p/40002...

I send an email directly to my friend and fitbit just gives me a pop up:

Invite Friends By Email

You are already friends with

Other email errors

and it's blank. There has to be something wrong with fitbit at this point, not me. Maybe their APIs are borked or I need to delete my account or something, this is really dumb.

Just for giggles, tried signing into fitbit on another browser I rarely ever use, without using Facebook signin, instead just the regular fitbit sign in, that, obviously, worked, but adding friends did not. (this is from a desktop, doesn't seem to make a difference on 4g/wifi/desktop.

I am having the same problem! It's so frustrating because I have gone back and forth with Fitbit and they keep giving me silly suggestions. I of course try them but it makes absolutely no difference. They've said I have exhausted all of their suggestions so it must be an Amazon issue. Highly doubtful as it is an issue with the Fitbit app and has nothing to do with my Amazon. I obliged them and contacted Amazon and they basically said that it has nothing to do with my Amazon account, which I pretty much already knew. So now I have a device that will not work with Alexa which was one of the main reasons to get it. Well at this point I just hope that the acquisition that Google has for Fitbit goes through...

The Fitbit app. I didn't even realize I was in the beta version

Same here. I just uninstalled and left the beta and tried again, Alexa now works just fine! I didn't even know I was in the beta.

Facebook still refuses to sync, however.
