"Unlock with your phone" message on Versa

Versa stuck at 'unlock with your phone', but I don't have sync setup any more. Instructions for device reset or factory reset on this forum don't work. Any ideas how to get this back to working?

Thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself. To unlock your watch with your phone:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon > your device image. 
  2. Tap or click Device Lock.
  3. Find the option to reset your PIN code. 

Note that after you reset your PIN code, you must add your cards to Fitbit Pay as if you were setting it up for the first time.

I have same problem but i removed the versa from my profile in fitbit so now i can add it again 

when i try A message appears "unlock with your phone "

I have the same problem. 
the device ask me to unlock by cell phone, but I get a new cell phone. Totally boring!

I have also changed phone and trying to setup newly. Tried to reset but it comes back to screen with display. Fitbit app can detect it but watch can’t display pin instead asking to “unlock with phone”.. why can’t watch can work wirh the pin setup earlier ?

My device is not saved with the fitbit app and I'm unable to set it up with pin again. Tried to reset but it comes back to screen with display. I was able to fix this after a 1hr call with customer support.. Your're not going to like the solution.

 

You have to factory reset your fitbit, which means you will loose everything.

 

Hold the button on the side until you see the fitbit logo. (Around 10seconds)

Keep holding, once the logo dissappears let go and then re-press and hold the button until you feel a vibration.

The logo should pop back up and white meaning you have successfully reset the device.

I've got the same issue with my watch as I switched my phone. Suggest a way to reset it without my phone.

I'm not seeing under my account screen an option for device lock

If this works thats great. But for me it didnt. 
i was on the phone to customer service for ages and all i got was “wait for an email from warranty with instructions on what they can do”

so because my watch was locked, and they were unable to troubleshoot it or help at all, i have now been told that because my watch is out of warranty i have to buy a new one with a 35% discount offered. 
i am outraged. So very disappointed with a company i have used for many years, to be told i now have to buy another watch because my perfectly fine one locked itself out and is unable to be resolved. 
safe to say i will be taking it further. I am not happy with a discount for a new product when the watch i am using is perfectly fine and in great condition.

I have bought MI watch but still having the locked Fitbit thinking one day they will reveal a secret code (or restart sequence) to make mine working again.

Hi did you ever get a resolution? I have the same exact problem and they offered me 35% for a new one as well. It’s ridiculous they can’t fix their own product. I’ve even tried emailing the ceo of the company which is google now. Any info would help.

No i didn't get a resolution. I ended up getting rid of what was a perfectly working fitbit because they couldn’t unlock it for me. Takes the absolute biscuit.

Thanks! This does take MANY tries to time it right, but it worked to to a hard reset on my Versa 3!  Now the "Unlock with Phone" message is gone, it does not ask for the 4 digit PIN, and the Versa 3 rebooted into the message "To start, download the Fitbit app".

 

To reiterate, I pressed and held the side button until the screen went black, the Fitbit logo popped up and then dissapeared. At that exact point, I let go of the button and quickly pressed&held before the Fitbit logo showed up again, and I kept holding until I heard a boot up jingle from the Versa 3! The release and re-press has to be done within one or two seconds at the correct time. 

When it worked, after many tries, I heard the jingle and the Versa 3 booted into the initial, out-of-the-box screen.
