My Fitbit Versa 2 died yesterday. In the morning, I fully charged my watch. It was working completely normal all day until last night I went to check the time and the screen was black. No lights were on the Versa. I attempted to reset, nothing happened. I attempted to charge, no response. I reached out to customer support for trouble shooting - no luck. I was told I am outside the warranty window (by 3 months) for replacement. This is the SECOND Versa that has died on me just outside the 1 year warranty timeframe. While Fitbit will not comment on how/why my devices died, both Versas just so happened to die after water related encounters. The first was from handwashing during the Pandemic! And yesterday, a simple swim. I am curious how many others have experienced issues on their "waterproof" devices? Are these devices actually waterproof as advertised?
I cannot even put into words how incredibly disappointed I am by Fitbit and their products.

The Fitbit 2 is water "resistant" to 50 meters. That means you should be able to swim with it, though I would not recommend doing it in salt water. After a time the seals on the tracker can become dry allowing some water intrusion. Sorry that you are experiencing this. Have you tried burying it in a bag of rice for a couple of days to see if that removes any moisture? If that does indeed work, I do not recommend that you swim with it in the future as it would be clear that the seals have become compromised.

This happened to me yesterday. I had a replacement within the warranty due to the battery draining. I was sent a refurbished one as a replacement and it has worked fine until yesterday when I wore it for a 15 minute swim. Completely dead now.
So annoyed because the original warranty has now ended.

Thank you for the rice bag suggestion. I luckily bought the 2 year extended warranty due to my first Versa dying from handwashing. A replacement is on its way.
I understand the seals can dry out over time, however, this happened in only a year time. I never wear it in the shower and decided to wear it swimming once. Certainly learned my lesson that this tracker is not as water resistant/proof as advertised.

Sorry that this has happened to you as well. It is very frustrating and has me rethinking what fitness tracker/brand I would use in the future.

This happened to me as well. Ive had it for over just 2 years and I went swimming with it yesterday and now it won't turn on. I'm so beyond frustrated. These watches sent cheap,.they should last longer and maybe Fitbit should stop advertising them like they are because it's false.
