Why is the "workout" exercise tracking a distance and pace? I did a gym workout that had quite a bit of cardio so I get steps. But I don't think the "workout" exercise should track a distance and pace? If I wanted that I'd choose walk or run. Any thoughts?

I get the distance when i workout with "weights" as well. when the "weights" exercise is synced to my Phone it shows i've trained for 0,5km with is not how i would tell my friends how my workout went...
BUT! when i check the Fitbit dashboard in my web browser it says minutes..

In my dashboard I still have a distance shown.
I sure hope fitbit isn't using that distance and time to come up with a stride length in that algorithm. This is very odd. It flat out should not try to track distance in any capacity.

If I recall correctly, "workout" mode in the Versa is more for if you are not sure what this type of exercise belongs to or just a general exercise routine you are doing. If you are doing more cardio, isn't there a more specific type of exercise you can log that under?
I think for all types of exercises except the obvious ones where you are either swimming or on a bike, it will track steps and distance.

@tofuuu630 the person above has the same issue with the "weight" workout which clearly should not track a distance either. I'm going to disagree and say that only the basic workouts like running and walking should have a distance. Where it is clear that you are moving forward all the time. Weights, workout, interval training. . . none of those are the same thing as a distance workout.

I think I see what you mean now. But aside from distance, it also gives you other stats just like other types of exercises. For example, they all list calories burnt, average heart rate, and distance. So I don't have an issue with all workouts tracking distance because when I look at those workouts afterwards, I don't look at the distance at all, but rather my heart rate and calories tracked. I think Fitbit is just a bit lazy and didn't bother differentiating different layouts for the different types of exercises.

@tofuuu630 yes but I also think that if they take the "distance" and divide by the steps to get your avg stride length that will be significantly off. So I wonder if they use that information from these kind of workouts. I hope not!

I'm no expert at the inner workings of Fitbit lol, but I'd like to think with 90% certainty that they don't do that. Do you raise this issue because you are finding your steps to be inaccurate? I've always assumed that they use your height as a rough benchmark for average distance you cover per step. However, the more you go on connected GPS runs and walks it will calculate a better job for you. Also, you are able to go on a racetrack and set your stride length yourself!

For example, here is my stride and running length. I didn't set those values itself and it seemed to have calculated it down to a tenth of a decimal what my strides were so they must have calculated it from my GPS connected runs and walks.

I have the same problem since switching from a Charge 2 to a Versa. Before that I logged workouts all the time and it didn't show distance and pace. I think this is an annoying bug 😞

I also don't understand why the "workout" doesn't show calories in the main exercise listing.

I see the same stats on the app when I use workout.
I would much prefer it to show the amount of time and the calories burned.
It shows these stats on the actual fitbit (start and end time, calories burned, min and max heart rate) when I end the workout, so it is strange that they aren't shown here.
Distance is pretty much irrelevant in this case.

So this is bug known buy fitbit. However the stats in the web dashboard is just like its supposed to be.
