I tried restarting my phone as it keep saying "Notification service not running.A phone restart is requires to re enable notification on your tracker ". it is only working for test call, nothing apart from that. This is really disappointing i have purchased it yesterday and from day one i am facing such issue. i have enable notifications, i am a android user and my bluetooth and phone version both are compatible as per your compatible device chart. Please help to fix this.

@neh19 Phone model and OS? it seems like the Fitbit app (and Notification Service) is being killed. First, please restore Bluetooth connectivity:

  1. Unpair (remove) Versa from your phone's bluetooth settings
  2. Uninstall the Fitbit mobile app
  3. Reboot your phone and install Fitbit mobile app. Do not pair in your phone's bluetooth settings. The trick here is to not pair in phone Bluetooth settings but rather let the Fitbit mobile app do that.
  4. Reboot your Versa by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes
  5. Login to Fitbit mobile app
  6. Grant all permissions and sync
  7. Make sure that Sync Service notification for Fitbit mobile app has the priority set to at least HIGH (this can be done in the Android settings>Notifications>Fitbit)
  8. Make sure All-day sync, Always Connected are enabled in the Fitbit mobile app. Make sure to sync after enabling them
  9. Also, please make sure Fitbit mobile app is not being optimized by Android (Android settings>Battery>Optimization>Fitbit needs to be marked as not optimized).

Additional tips if sync issues persist: If you have Wifi set up, go to Fitbit mobile app and remove it, then sync your Versa. I noticed that it causes issues for me. If you have other Bluetooth devices paired with your phone, forget them. One of them might be causing issues.

If you have issues with the notifications, please do the following:

  1. Turn OFF the Notifications in your Fitbit mobile app and on your Versa, reboot your phone and Versa, and turn the notifications back ON on both devices.
  2. Make sure the notifications are ON on your Versa. Press and hold the left button to access quick menu. Turn the notifications to ON.
  3. In the Fitbit mobile app, make sure you enabled the notifications and that Fitbit notification service is enabled in your phone settings. It needs to be ON.
  4. If your phone is in DND or silent mode, make sure Always vibrate option is enabled in your Fitbit mobile app. Also, it's always a good idea to toggle on/off notifications in the Fitbit mobile app with sync in-between.
  5. Make sure that any app you would like to receive notifications for on your Versa has the push notifications priority set to at least HIGH (this can be done in the Android settings>Notifications). Please see my post here for more info.

@neh19 what's your phone model and OS? Are you receiving notifications from other apps?

I have the same issues. Complete re-installs work for ant where between 1 hour and 1 day. The only solutions I can find suggest rebooting, cycling connections, etc. etc. Nothing helps and Fitbit has no direct customer service. Too many hours searching forums. To many attempts at poor solutions. Will Fitbit take a return of a three month old unit?

Hi @ppickles. Good job of searching the Community forums. That’s always a good first step. Sorry it did not help in this instance. But you can find direct ways to contact support by scrolling to the bottom of almost any Fitbit page and tapping help. From there, you can scroll down to Get Support. They can answer your warranty question.

@neh19 It's the power management on Redmi phones. OS tends to kill everything. Try locking Fitbit mobile app in the background, so it doesn't get killed. Please take a look at this link.

@neh19 alright, try downgrading fitbit mobile app to the version 2.74.2 (you will have to first uninstall the current build). You can find apk file on the internet. Then, turn off battery optimization as usual, enable all-day sync, always connected and keep alive widget. Lock in the background.
