@freshy76 did you follow the link I posted above?

I'm having this same issue syncing my Versa 2 with my Samsung Galaxy S9.  I've spent five hours reading every checklist I can find (including the one below provided by @Rich_Laue.)

  • I've removed every other BT connection.
  • I've confirmed that my phone, my app, and my Versa 2 are all up to date.
  • I have rebooted the Versa and the phone (several times)
  • Both are fully charged.
  • BT is on.
  • Bluetooth in the phone finds the Versa in Available Devices, but tells me that "An app is needed to use this device."
    • The phone does not display the "Forget this device" ability as the device isn't paired.
  • I've confirmed that I can pair other devices (Bose mobile speaker) with my phone.
  • I even had what I assume is a neighbor's Ionic appear in my BT list and tried to pair it on a whim.  Yes...it "FOUND IT!" and asked me for the four digits. (Sorry neighbor.)  This indicates to me that it's the VERSA that is the problem.  The app and the phone both appear to be working fine.

Should I do the Factory Reset?  I'm at the end of my rope here.

  • You do not want to do a factory reset.
  • You do not want to remove the Versa 2 from your Fitbit account.
  • Yes your phones Bluetooth may or may not see the Versa 2, it doesn't matter.
  • The Versa 2 is telling you to use the Fitbit app. Not by the user.
  • This is a Bluetooth Low Energy device and the Bluetooth management is handled by the Fitbit App.
  • Yes, a device that has been removed from the list of trusted Bluetooth devices has already been forgotten.
  • You say that you restarted both the phone and tracker, but have both been powered completely off.
  • Has the Fitbit apps cache been cleared?

If the tracker is still connected to your fitbit account.

Open up the fitbit app and a sync should happen.

The tracker does not have to be a trusted device. However, in a few minutes the fitbit app should request permission to pair the Versa 2.

The user will not be able to pair a fitbit tracker.

Now if the Versa has been removed from the fitbit account, you will need to do an Add Device and setup the tracker again.
