Support said a factory reset had to be done since my watch no longer has exercise feature button and I would lose no date. After support person and myself did the reset, my watch did not come back on. I received memo form Fitbit support saying "Although your device is outside the scope of Fitbit's warranty terms, we want to offer you a 35% discount on a new Fitbit device." The discount only covers certain watches.
Has anyone had this problem? My watch was working well before the update and I feel their offer is not acceptable. I've been a Fitbit user for many years. Any suggestions?

I had the same experience as you. This makes it looks like they wantedly bricked the devices.
