My Versa will not stay connected to the app. EVERY time i want to access the app, I see that it has not synced for at least a day. I restart the phone, I restart the bluetooth, and I re-boot the Versa, and then I wait while it takes forever (IF it eventually works) to re-connect. and yes, I have the All Day Sync turned on. I have now been trying for 4 hours to get them connected. The other problem I noticed, my clock was 5 minutes slow, and now it is randomly 2 hours fast. The watch won't let me fix the time, so I have to do it through the app or the dashboard, which I cannot connect too, so I now have a competely useless piece of plastic on my arm that doesn't even tell the correct time.

My question is why should we have to do ANY of this? I can buy a smart watch for $30 that will give me the same headaches. If I pay $150-$200 for it I expect it to work without having to unhook, rehook, reload, shutdown, reset, etc., etc.!!!!!

Had my fitbit versa since May last year. Sync stopped two days ago on Wednesday with my driod. I think Fitbit pushed faulty code. None of these tips work.

I have done this. It worked for 5 minutes, but an hour later when I try to open Fitbit app- I get same readings from hour before, and it tells me I have to restart the Bluetooth . I tell it to do this.
I manually hit sync - and it spins forever. sometimes it eventually syncs, other times it takes days before I can get it sync again.
I have rebooted the fitbit.
i have rebooted my phone
I have done both.
I have un conneted it to bluetooth and re-connected.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the app.
Before this I had a Charge HR, and then an Alta, I NEVER had this level of difficultly keeping the app synced with the device.

@SunsetRunner wrote:Hi, what you all can try to do is this:
1. Check the status of the Versa's BT, should be on. - How do i do this?
2. Go to your phone and the Fitbit app
3. Disable BT and WiFi - for the Fitbit app? How? Or to the phone?
4. Deinstall Fitbit app (do not unpair your Versa, leave as it is) (I did this)
5. Restart you phone ans enable BT and WiFi
6. Reinstall Fitbit app and your Versa should still be there. (did this)
7. Press on Fitbit's dashboard screen the watch icon on top of the screen on the right side
8. Scroll down to directly underneath the Manual and Accesoires tiles and press the sync icon. (I do this about 10x a day)
9. Enable continuous syncing. (is this the same as Always Connected? - which is on, as is "All-Day Sync"
Hopefully they will connect now. Mind though that when you're out of BT reach, the Versa will not stay connected, only when you get back within the BT range and, sometimes, it's still necessary to do point 7 manually.

Hi,
1. On your Versa go to settings and scroll down to BT, press it and you'll see whether its on, paired of off. It should be on.
3. Disable BT and WiFi on your phone, this will also disable them for the Fitbit app (sorry, should have been more clear)
9. Continous syncing does not mean anything other than Fitbit and Versa sync automatically everytime when you're in the BT range of your phone and yes this the same as All-Day sync.
As an extra:
1. on the page of All-Day sync, if you stil have problems, scroll down to the end of this page and enable Active Widget. Good luck.
As already earlier stated, you sometimes have to sync manually, especially when you've been out of reach of your phone BT and it gives you the message : "BT issues", restart BT". Press no and do it manually.
2. If for some reason after a sync, your phone gives the message "syncing error, try again", the simplest way to deal with that is to disable your BT on the phone, restart the phone and the Fitbit app and wait untill Fitbit says "unable to connect cause BT is off", then enable BT and Fitbit will start the syncing process.

I guess my question was rhetorical.....why should we have to keep messing
with it to get it to work? I can buy a $30 smart watch to do that!

re: downgrading Fitbit app to version 2.74.2.
I wasn't aware that was possible. Can you provide instructions?

@kwmcc Only if you're on Android. Google Fitbit app version 2.74.2 APK file (you will probably find it on site such as APKmirror) and download it to your phone. Uninstall your current fitbit mobile app and install Fitbit APK file that you downloaded (just go to your download folder and tap on the file). You may need to grant permission to install from Unknown Sources when prompted. As a side note, Fitbit does not recommend installing unofficial releases. It's your call. I'm still running 2.74.2 on my OnePlus.

I have to leave my Fitbit app open all day on my phone for it to mostly continually sync. I also turned off the optimization for Fitbit that my Android phone does as suggested in a previous comment by someone send in this thread.

I'm having the same problems, have just gone into BT on the versa and it just says '+ audio device' so I don't know if I'm connected or not? How dobyou enable BT on the versa?

@Emilio84 the +audio device is for pairing versa with audio device such Bluetooth speaker or earbuds. It has nothing to do with sync. Bluetooth is ON all the time on Versa so there's no need to enable it.

@AshleyMonson yes, that would be because the app is getting killed by the OS. Try locking app in the background. Google how to do it on your phone.

I also have a OnePlus (6) and I'm having these same sync problems. I've had to repair my versa a few times, but since the latest FitBit software update it will sync fine provided that I launch the app and manually sync, but it won't stay connected for more than a few minutes after that (thus notifications aren't working). Did you see similar symptoms before you downgraded the app? Wondering what prompted you to install an older version.

@Bluefooted Because OP (OnePlus) is notorious for killing background processes. Honestly it would kill everything and anything, forget GPS services. 😞 2.74 seemed to be the most stable build for me. I run the current build on my Pixel 3 and 2.74.2 on OP3T.

Thanks, I'll give that a try! This has been driving me crazy and I've contacted Fitbit support for other things in the past and they've been less than helpful, really didn't feel like going through that again, especially if it's actually a phone issue and not a Fitbit issue. On the plus side, my battery lasts forever when it's not syncing 😛
