The new interface to log food is awful. Not easy to see what food you've logged for the day, and when adding a food and changing quantity, you can't see how many calories, etc. Why not use what was in the current app?

The Public Preview is still very much a work-in-progress. From posts that I've read, there's an issue with food and calorie tracking in the Public Preview.
For now, please submit your thoughts about food tracking using the Feedback feature in the Fitbit app:
Although it's likely that you won't get a response, we've gotten confirmation that the team reviews every submitted feedback report and is collecting information for Public Preview improvements.

I am struggling with this too. I religiously track my food but the new widget is trying to look too fancy. The font of too big and the simplified aesthetic isn't helpful

I agree with this. I haven't even really been able to find where the food I entered today is located. The dashboard isn't as intuitive as it was but maybe I'm just still learning it. I'd recommend a separate tab along the bottom for nutrition and meds where you can set reminders and see what you've done today
The food logging definitely needs work. Like mentioned it used to show you the calories when you edited the portion size which has gone.
The barcode scanner is a massive missing feature for me that needs to be added back in asap.
Also if you click on the tabs to show per meal like breakfast, lunch, dinner etc it would be good if it showed you the total calories for that meal which it doesn't at the moment it only shows the calories per item of the meal so you need to manually add up each item.
