I've enabled the preview and the step count is significantly higher than the old app and my pixel watch. If I switch back to non-preview version the correct count is shown. I've tried the usual stuff. For stop the app, clear cache and data but that makes no difference.

Hi, @cpc54, Welcome. I'm not replicating your results. Having recorded a walk of 3049 steps on the preview app I switched to the Standard App to see the same results. Can you please tell us the value of the difference you see? You will know that the Phone app does not sync continuously with our wearables, but only when we open the app or manually sync by sliding our fingers down the "Today" screen. I do notice that the Steps tile in the preview app shows us the daily average from "All Sources". If you toggle to Pixel Watch, you get a slightly different figure & a caution about gaps in your data. Is this what you are seeing?
Please post here again & let us know.
Cheers

I've got the opposite problem (and have reported it in the app). My pixel watch and the old version of Fitbit report one figure and the preview is significantly lower. I did a sync and it added a few more steps but still about 3000 less

Can i turn off other sources? I sometimes go for a walk without my phone so any phone app will be counting less steps than the fitbit watch itself.
I am very unhappy with the discrepancy and also it seems the new preview overestimates steps and I dont know what is my accurate steps count anymore.
