The exercise map it not showing on the new AI version of Fitbit.

ANSWERED

I have been using the new AI version of the Fitbit app and when I choose the  outdoor workout on my Charge 6 and my gps is connected the map doesn’t show up like it did in the old version of the Fitbit App. Why is this?

This happened to me - I found a gps on/off button on my Fitbit. After selecting ‘walk’ scroll down before pressing start and I found a gos button that was off. When I slid across to on I started getting the mapping again.

@Denisebmb I've moved your post to the board for the Personal Health Coach because that is a better fit for this topic.

Which version of the Fitbit app are you using? I believe the most recent is version 4.65. If you switch back to the regular app, does the map then appear as usual? Have you tried any troubleshooting steps, such as clearing your app cache, restarting your phone, or uninstalling and reinstalling the Fitbit app?

The Fitbit app I was using was the AI version . I was part of the trial for it. It turns out the Fitbit developers don’t have the new AI version configured so that the map shows when you do any exercise that would use gps in coordination with a map. When I say the old version I mean not the AI version.
I tried everything to get it to but in the end the AI told me that I would have to contact Fitbit and explain my concerns to them.

The personal health coach is in the AI version and they were the ones who sent me back to the regular Fitbit community

@Denisebmb what is the version number of your Fitbit app? To find that, tap your profile icon at the upper right of the main screen, select Help, and your version number will be listed in the next screen. It should say something like 4.65 and then a string of other numbers. If you have an earlier version than 4.65, you may need to update your app.

I am using the most current version of the Fitbit and am able to see maps in the both the regular app and the Personal Health Coach. It is not an issue with configuration. If AI told you that the app is not configured to display maps, that is not correct.

If your app is up-to-date and still not working correctly, I would suggest restarting both your Fitbit device and your phone. If that doesn't work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app on your phone.

Hi, @Denisebmb , I'm using a PW4 with the public preview app, and I've noted that if you start (in my case, a walk) on the wearable, you must check that GPS is connected before you touch the "Go" arrow. Now I'm not familiar with charge 6, but what happens when I step outside for a walk, I touch "walk" and then see "GPS connecting", only after I see "GPS connected" do I touch the "Go" icon (before I stride away). If I touch the "Go" icon immediately it appears, before GPS connected is seen I do not get a map at the end of the walk. I do not know if you see a similar chain of options, but if you do, may I suggest you pause after you step outside to allow the GPS to connect.

Let us know if this helps.

Cheers

My Fitbit is updated to 4.66. I have done all of your suggestions and the map still isn’t appearing in the AI version, but it us in the regular Fitbit app

I have the same problem and am using pixel watch 4. I can see the map for the excercises if I switch back to the classic version of the app. Making sure the GPS is connected or not before I start the excercises does not make a difference.

Hello @Denisebmb , @Kyle2212

If you uninstalled and re-installed the Fitbit app and still don't see the map in the Public Preview, please submit this issue using the Feedback option.

  • Tap your avatar in the upper right of the Today page in the Fitbit app
  • Tap Feedback in the menu that opens
  • Complete the prompt and submit

Although it's likely that you won't get a response, we've gotten confirmation that the team reviews every submitted feedback report and uses the information for issue investigation.

The good news is that you see the map in the regular version of the Fitbit app, which means that the data has been uploaded to your account on the Fitbit servers. Once the issue with the Public Preview version is addressed, those maps should be available without having to switch to the regular version.

I removed the app from my phone, restarted everything, and have the most recent version 4.66 in both apps; the old Fitbit app and the health coach app. The GPS does not connect at all with the new health coach app but as soon as I switch it back to the old Fitbit app I it connects immediately and the map shows up after I’m finished. When I switch if to the health coach there is no map for the same activity. I wish there was a way that I could share a screen **ahem** here so that it can been seen by others.

Are you talking about the Fitbit app or you tracker. I have a charge 6 and
with the gps on it only shows the map in the ills Fitbit app but the new AI
health coach Fitbit app.

I have the same problem, all of my workouts (Walks) are missing the GPS map now on the personal health coach preview. I have a Charge 6 on an Android phone and have it set to use my phone for GPS location rather than the Charge 6.

I hope they figure this out soon because other than that issue I really liked the new app.

This is what happened to me. I have a charge 6 on iOS. When I switched the GPS on my watch to on it started working again. When you press the walk screen on your watch, scroll down and switch on the GpS button before you start recording.

I'm also on the Public Preview, version 4.67. The map will not load. I've gone through all settings and permissions, everything is good to go. I'm using the Pixel Watch 4 LTE and Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, neither are recording the map like they used to while not on Public Preview.

Thank you. I didn’t even know you could do that. All this time I have been recording most of my walks as outdoor activity instead just so that I would get the map. I will have to give this a try.

I will let you know how it turns out.

Hi Donnadean8

Your answer here was actually the best answer, I just accidentally clicked the wrong one as I didn’t realize that you responded twice. I found where to get the gps for the walks and it was exactly where you said. I tried it with all my walks today and only one didn’t connect which was pretty good considering I recorded 5 walks and 4 out of the 5 connected. The maps now show up for my walks in the old Fitbit app and the new AI version.

Thank you again.
