New app is a mess - multiple issues

The AI-generated "insights" aren't helpful - they don't line up with what I actually do. It doesn't consider what is actually normal for me, only what the algorithm tells it should be normal for me.

I can't see any useful stats anymore - only cardio load, which is as useless a stat as it can be. I have gained 19 "cardio points" in the last 20 minutes literally just sitting at my desk.

I can't see my exercise stats or sleep stats anymore. Just "insights and analyses", which don't actually correlate with anything I've done, completely misreading what I do. It doesn't even feed any stats regarding my workouts to my personal trainer's app anymore....just that I've done "general exercise". It used to feed heart rate and time spent exercising over, but not anymore. So now my actual real-life coach isn't getting the data he uses to modify my plan.

Speaking of plan, I'm unable to get anything truly done now without letting this AI nonsense "create a plan" for me. No, I don't want AI to create a plan for me. I have one already, with my real-life coach who knows me, knows my body, knows my limitations.

UPDATE 11/6/25:

This morning, I am seeing other tabs along the bottom. Still can't switch back to the regular app, though, and still can't see specific details related to my workout.

I'm noticing that the automatic sleep analysis was done before I woke up, and still did not take into consideration any of my specific details. It says I "reported feeling awful and that sleep wasn't restorative", but like I said, it did that before I woke up. My sleep was just fine, and I am more awake today than I was yesterday.

Update 11/7/25

Maybe the app is learning? Not sure. Analysis and insights are still incorrect, but don't seem as incorrect as they were even yesterday. Still unable to see specific stats, which is frustrating. I'll continue giving this a bit of time. How long, though, I'm not sure. Hopefully Fitbit actually listens and fixes the issues everyone is having.

Hi @amymurray122.   This is a preview, not the final app.  You can switch back to the current version.  I know there is a page to switch back, but I don't have access to this as an iPhone user.  @alexthecat  -- can you help?

I'm actually chatting with someone right now about trying to get back to the old (and muuuuuuch better) app. The option they're talking about (tapping on my profile in the top right corner and selecting "Public Preview") is not showing for me.

EDIT: after chatting with Support, I was told that if Public Preview is not an available option, reverting back to the original app is not possible.

At the bottom, click on health to see some of the stats you may be missing.

You Should see a sleep tab there too. The sleep stats are the same as the old app.

In the upper right corner, do you see a little star/gear symbol next to your profile pic? That is the quick swap button to go to old version

Best Answer

We went over all that. For some reason, I don't see those tabs...the only thing at the bottom is "Today". I have no way to see my stats. The person I was talking to determined that I don't have the ability to toggle between the app versions or go back to the old one.

@amymurray122 that's very unusual and I'm sorry you're having these issues with the Fitbit app. Which phone do you have and which android version? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

I have a Motorola Edge with Android 15, and yes, we uninstalled/reinstalled the app twice.

For me, the coach has felt very personalized as far as what I want it to consider on the daily. During the intake I did make it a point to tell it I work on nights, my plans and goals, and health conditions that I need to watch out for. I think it does a great job at this. My issue as of late is the growing redundancy of the AI Insights. I did try to follow the other post here to ask the coach to be more short and concise.

Update: 11 - 7

Still getting incorrect analysis for sleep. Saying I reported feeling "well rested" even before I woke up. I am NOT well-rested today at all, just the opposite. It seems like it may be using the previous day's report to analyze today's data (I was well-rested yesterday). Not very helpful. I have let it know that it's wrong, and have reported it as well.

Specifically, the initial recap for today says:

Last night you had an above-average amount of REM sleep and reported feeling well-rested.

But then when I go in to continue the conversation, it says:

It's understandable you'd want to dive deeper, especially since you reported feeling exhausted and wanting to go back to sleep.

@krittergemini Have you had any luck with getting short, concise answers? I've done the same on mine, and it does fine for 2 or 3 messages, but then reverts back to the long, overly wordy responses.

Dang, you are having a hard time with this.

I'm working through all the differences and getting the hang of this service. I'm still struggling with some parts, and others are working. Good luck going forward, and I hope it evolves into something that works for you.

For those who want what they had a few years ago, it's hard having these services change and evolve.  I hope there is some benefit there for you.

Hello @amymurray122

When you tap on your picture in the upper right of the Today page, do you see a menu item called Report Issue? If so, please use that feature to report the problem of not being able to switch back to the former Fitbit app.

As I understand it, the team receives the Issue reports for review.

No, no option to report issues except on individual insights/analyses. As I stated earlier, I spoke with someone in support, and they determined that the ability to toggle back to the original version is not available.

I'm reporting everything I can that isn't working, so hopefully that will be enough to get things working right.

Hello @amymurray122

Thanks for checking.

I'm trying to escalate your issue on not being able to switch back to the regular Fitbit app and will report back when I have more info.

It's already been escalated with a ticket number for my initial chat with support, though those messages have since been deleted by....someone? Not sure who deleted them.

@amymurray122 some posts were deleted to make this thread more readable. Your case with Support has been escalated and we are waiting for more information to get this resolved for you. I don't have a timeframe for that unfortunately.

Hi everyone, thank you for your responses and your contribution to this topic.

Today we are rolling out the latest version of the Fitbit app. This one, has the potential to resolve the issue about the inhability to leave the Personal health coach public preview. For instructions see How do I use the Fitbit app? > How do I update the Fitbit app?

Once your app is updated, Open the Fitbit app and tap your profile at the top right. Tap Public Preview and then Switch app version.
