Ability to change daily goals without changing all past days

We should be able to change our goals without changing all of our past goals.
For example, on holiday break I was happy to lower my goal to 5,000 steps. Or converter, some days I want to do more and want to up my goal to 15,000 or even 20,000...but then It changes all the past days.

I am disabled and adding 300 steps daily this week and to read that I will loose all of my past progress... SUCKS... this saddens me as I fight so hard to move forward and was so happy to have my previous documentation manually... no longer a need thanks to technology.  I do this for medical documentation ... Please fix it and when you do please make it with ability to provide original data and goals. It will make a huge difference to my health care. Thank you!

I like the new dashboard.  Granted I've been a fitbit user for about 1 1/2 months, but this looks a lot friendlier to me.  When I opened up my page this morning my first reaction was "Oooohhhh."  I think it all looks a lot neater and it is easier for me to view and use than the older version.

I like it and I think it is a job well done!

I have made a suggestion in the past, and I tried it now hoping that it would be there, but it hasn't made the cut yet.  My suggestion is when changing goals that you are given the option of what day you want the change to start.  For example, I stated out with 10,000 steps and then increased to 14,000, then 18,000 and now want to increase to 23,000.  But, everytime I make a change, it goes back in time and changes all my goals.  So, the days I met my goal at 18,000 now it looks like I didn't make it.  This is for all goals too... water, calorie burn, active minutes, miles etc.  There are days I plan a large hike and want to really push myself, but I don't want to skew my numbers for the week.   So, I don't change my numbers.  I know it's silly, but I'm pretty competative with myself and I look back and print spreadsheets of my progress and would like to see that I met my goals for that day.   I'm also getting a HTC one (M8).... should be in the mail today so that I can track my progess and calorie burn in "live time" while I'm hiking or mountain biking (I also pull a 30 lb trailer with my 23 lb dog) so I like to get a good idea of how many calories I am burning on the go as I tend to under eat...... So, I would love to be able to change my goals at my leisure and not have it affect past dates.

Anyway, to wrap up I LOVE the new dashboard.  You guys get to hear a lot of complaints and wishes and you probably don't hear THANK YOU enough.  So, I'm saying Thank you for all your hard work with trying to make it better and making everyone happy.

I have changed my step goal and my plan intensity twice now.  But, each time I've done it, it changes days in the past.  I want to change a goal for that day and moving foward.  It's discouraging to get better and want to increase your goals, but when you do it changes your past and makes it look like you didn't hit your target.  10,000 was my step goal to begin, then I switched to 14,000 to challenge myself but now I look like a loser in the beginning.

Can this please be something added to the features?  Or, at least ask you if you want your goal change to begin.  Most people get better and increase their goals.... it would be nice to have this feature.

I agree.  Very discouraging to work hard and have to remember on your own when you changed the goal.  Being able to see the successes of the past will help encourage you to meet the new levels.

This is a feature we've discussed in the past, and one we hope to take on in the future.

I just browsed this forum and found this ticket (heavily voted for ) . I havent altered my goals and was kinda shocked to read this would be the case .  No Brainer .  Should be done . We would be more likely to classify this sort of thing as a bug rather than a feature request since I cant image it was designed to work as it does now.

This is a duplicate request of  this

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Changing-Goals-where-it-doesn-t-effect-past-goals/i...

So it should be merged and all the votes counted up . Although vote count here is rather unimportant as this is not a feature request IMO  its a bug pure and simple . Vote count should only be seen as an indicator of how many people are affected by it and care to report it . There is no way that anyone could possibly stand up and say .. yes how it is working now is how we specced it to work.

This as has already been pointed out is a duplicate (apologies if it happens to be the original) of this

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Changing-Goals-where-it-doesn-t-effect-past-goals/i...

There are multiple duplicates of this bug report and it is a bug report not a feature request.

I'm starting to wonder why I bought a Fitbit (Flex in my case). It doesn't appear to have the features I automatically assumed it would have. It's starting to feel like a not so glorified pedometer.

I agree with this one.  M,W,F, I lift weights while T,TH,Sat, I do cardio.  I would love to be able to set my goals on the cardio days higher without having to log into the interface each time to change it.

I just bought the Fitbit Flex last week.  It has been so much fun learning, but a little frustrating as well.  Several friends have it now and we all decided to put our goals lower to start and then up them as we make progress.  So I agree, losing our previous goals is going to freak several in our group out and may discourage them from participating.

I recently have had emergent bilateral total hip replacement.  Post-operatively, I had a great deal of difficulty in limiting my daily activity. Having always been very active (hiking, walking....) I had never had these type of physical limitations.

I was very discouraged until I incorporated the "Zip" into my daily routine. My daily exercise activities are very complex including;  stretching, biking, walking and strength building. I use the "Zip" for walking and as a pedometer it's great. I am looking for an audible alarm/tone feature. Since I have difficulty doing too much it would be great to set a limit on steps. An example would be, if my therapist's recommendation is no more than 3000 steps for one daily walk an alarm tone would sound when I reached 1500 steps. I try to walk in different venues in order to stay positive and motivated hence why I need a little reminder. Thank you!
