Ability to change daily goals without changing all past days

We should be able to change our goals without changing all of our past goals.
For example, on holiday break I was happy to lower my goal to 5,000 steps. Or converter, some days I want to do more and want to up my goal to 15,000 or even 20,000...but then It changes all the past days.

YES PLEASE!!!! I've just started college and would like to 'up' my goals without discrediting when I did reach older goals in the past.

I agree completely and had no idea it would do this! (I'm fairly new). I would even add one idea to this - the ability to see the trends of goals. It would be satisfying to see how I've been able to increase my goals over time.

Agree! I would love to be able to set different goals for different days of the week. IE set a higher step goal for days when I am going to be traingin and a lower goal for my rest(or non-step exercise) days.

I have been reaching my goals as I get myself out of injuries and illness. The goals were low at first but once I could reach them for a week, I set another goal 500 steps higher. Because I change the goal it reads that in prior weeks, I did not reach my goals because the new goal is higher. It'd be nice if we can keep those green checks of lower goals so we can look back and pat ourselves on the back. 😉 As it is now, I go back several weeks and there are no lovely green checks at all. Am I making sense?

I just wrote a new post about this cuz I didn't see yours. I don't like seeing my green stars/checkmarks disappear! 😞

You could also add on to this that a step goal change/review section if you're hitting goals consistently

I agree this would be a brilliant idea and extra motivation to actually set new targets. BTW I'm in the UK and we have fitbits here too! I first came across them in France so I guess they too are part of the worldwide Fitbit community. It isn't being greedy or ungrateful to offer suggestions on a suggestions board. Fitbit ask for ideas and suggestions. That's why this board is here. If we didn't let them know then that would show ingratitude for the opportunity.

Some days I do not have time to reach the daily goal. Some days I would rather lift weights for activity than get a certain number of steps. In order to reach the steps I do not always have time to lift too.

It would be great if on a day I want to lift, don't have time, or am sick etc. I could lower the number of steps . On days I need to do this I always come up short and it shows that I didn't reach my goal. Not everyone can do the same amount of steps each day. Some days I can do 20,000 but don't have time for anything else. Other days I want to lift weights and that cuts into the time I would be getting steps but if I don't do the 20,000 steps it says I did not reach my goal when in fact I walked say 10,000 and lifted for an hour etc.

I was thinking the same as I want a day or two each week with lower goals.  Also I need to aim for 5 or 6,000 for a while then work up to 10,000 steps. Hey, I'm an age pensioner who's sat around doing nothing for years!  I live in Australia.

I wonder why there's been no response in eight weeks since the request?

Agree, and this should be across the board for all goals.  Should also work in reverse.  If I set a high goal  and then later lower it the historical days where I met the lower goal but not the higher one, which was the goal at that time shouldn't be flagged as meeting the goal.  This would be covered if the settign of the goal had a timestamp and was held to that timestamp as mentioned in a previous comment by @AZAnne

Having just returned to work after maternity leave, I am desperate for this feature.

I am quite active when off work due to running around after two young children, but I have a desk job, and my achieveable step count is easily 3k less on work days now than other days.

As of now, changing your calorie deficit goals from lets say -750 to -500, will apply the -500 goal to all previous daily calorie logs. This seems to be an oversight.

I was previously on the -750 plan and now wish to switch to -500. The new calorie weight should reflect that accordingly and not change all of my previous daily logs.

Agreed, I've raised my goals and it is disenheartining to see that my past sucessful goal days met are now not met.

Good idea.  This needs to be fixed.

Dashboard should also include a footnote/star or other indicator when a deficit was changed & what the calorie deficit was during that time period.

Knowing what calorie deficit you used earlier is good feedback for what works/achievable for one's lifestyle.  For example, I have used a calorie deficit even during maintaince since I often dine out during weekends.  It is worthwhile to know what level works and try different levels over time and compare results.

To do above, Fitbit needs to retain the diet history maintained longer.

Would be nice to be able to set different goals for different days of the week.

I would like the days I hit my goal in the past to remember that I hit my goal. Right now the goal star goes away if it was lower than your current goal.

I have hit my goal for months straight but because I just raised it to 14k it only shows 3 days now.

Hi, I too would like to be able incorporate a rest day into my schedule. Currently I'm Generating 75klms per week and I notice severe tiedness in the legs on occassions. On a rest day, (I'm thinking 1 per week) I'm still wanting to do a reduced number steps. Also, There are occassions, where injury, or an illness, or travel, or say when friends come to stay where  the fitness schedule is not always possible. Of course we could budget for extra steps to compensate for an intended day off, but I think that it should be possible to incorporate an adjustment to the program to allow for this. Rest, Just like sleep is important. Recently I brused my heel. Iniatially I was in serve pain for 48 hours. But so keen I was I to get back out there I prolonged the Injury. Which was stupid. I suscribe to  "Premium", The "trainer" comments generated in the report makes no allowances for issues like this. So once you get behind with your goals, when you are already pushing yourself to the limit, its difficult to catch up with the program.

For the love of god FitBit when are you going to add this feature (which is not even a feature and should be standard)... I think it should be top of your list.

Yes, please! How many times do we need to request this feature to have it adopted?

It would be nice to get an update from the folks at Fitbit on this request.

I must say that I was disappointed when I realized that changing goals went retroactively, rather than going forward.  It would be nice to change them daily to take into account things like sickness, weekends, injuries, etc.

Thank you

@Sweetness6645 Check the top of the first page The issue has been Reviewed by a Moderator which means it has been passed on to their development team for review. It will then be up to that team to determin if it can be implemented.

I'd love for this to finally happen. I've been waiting for a while. Hopefully Fitbit will keep us posted.

I'd like to see this behavior soon, too. It is the default one in the MSN Health and Fitness App and  it completely makes sense. I adapt my step goal at the end of every week depending on how often I reached it in the past week. Either the amount of steps will be increased, decreased or it stays unchanged. However, as changing the daily goal effects the past the number of how often you reached the goal in the past week and month might change in hindsight. That can mess up this procedure a bit...
