Ability to change daily goals without changing all past days

We should be able to change our goals without changing all of our past goals.
For example, on holiday break I was happy to lower my goal to 5,000 steps. Or converter, some days I want to do more and want to up my goal to 15,000 or even 20,000...but then It changes all the past days.

Wow!  I agree Fitbit really dropped the ball with this one.  I too, want to change my goal but don't want to loose past successes.  Although I'm sure some people wish we could change history, historical trends should never be altered...the point is to make a PERMANENT record.     Come on Fitbit...step up!

YES!  It's very discouraging to have acheived a goal for weeks in a row, decide to raise it, and then it looks as though you NEVER acheived it in the past, because now it's a higher goal (in the past) than it really was.

Please change this.   With it the way it is, I mentally change my goal, without changing the fitbit goal, because I don't like seeing my progress erased, in some sense.

Hi.

I am wondering if you could implement the ability to set goals for days. Ie monday 5k steps (due to working) tuesday 60 active minutes wed 5k thurs 60 active friday 7k traveled. Then bump it up for a weekend 10k steps on sat n 100 active minutes on Sunday.

So each day has a goal, which can be configured idividually and the goal measurement can be different.

When I revise my goals, my app retroactively applies the new goal over my archives. For example, my previous goal was 1700 calories in. My new goal today is 2000 calories in. Yesterday I ate 1700 calories- Nailed It! Now yesterday shows yellow due to my revised goal.
Suggestion: do not apply the new goal to the archives. The new goal should only apply from the day it is changed.

Huge vote on this one.  I recently upped my step goal, but as soon as I did so it appeared that I had not reached my 'daily goal' for the past 6 months!!  The previous step goal data should be saved so you can feel accomplished when preparing to push yourself.  Thank you!

I would like to add my agreement with the many people who have requested increasing goals but keeping historical data!

Yes, I'd like 20,000 step goal M-F and then 10,000 step goal Saturday and Sunday.

Due to religious restrictions, training schedules, holidays, etc... allow different calorie intake and burn goals for different days (e.g. Saturdays).

Now a goal change applies retroactively on the calorie bar chart. It should apply to the current day and future days only.

I have significantly different sections of my week and having only one step goal is not practical. During my weekdays i would like to set a step goal of 25000, but on the weekends i walk much less and a standard 10000 is enough of a challenge. Can this happen please.

I agree that this would be handy to have. I like the idea of work week vs weekend or different days.

I'd love for this to finally happen. Been waiting for almost a year and still nothing. 😞

When you change any goals the should only change moving forward. It should not change past data.
Example your step goal was 10k and you made your goal everyday for a month so you change the goal to 12k. It should not say all those days you didn't reach your goal because you did.

As a housewife I need this.  My step goal is rather low for M-F.  But on the weekends I play golf & crush my goal.  It would be nice to have a different weekend goal.

I want my step goal to be much higher on the weekends versus the weekdays .

This new feature would get my overall steps higher.

I'd like to be able to freeze all my data once I've reached a goal and then be able to set a new goal with a new meal plan to begin from that day, without it adjusting all my past data.

It would be awesome if was possible to set all goals different wor different weekdays. Then yoiu could set higher goals on training days, weekends etc.

I like the idea, but wonder if the UI would get clunky.

One thing I really like about Fitbit software is the clean clarity.  This isn't "just" easthetics, usability is a feature.

That could easily be resolved by having an 'anvanced settings' options. If you don't need it - don't use it.
I too like the quite simple overview - but the settings could be extended without that suffering I believe.

I'd like to be able to keep the green star on smaller previously met goals. For example, I increased my goal from 5000 to 10000 steps over several weeks. Whenever I raised my goals, I lost my green star even though I met goal at the time. I love the reward of a sticker:)

I was shocked to find that this doesn't work. I wouldn't consider this an improvement so much as a bug fix. The only logic behind the way it currently works is that no one would ever want to increase their goals.

I think it would be great to designate 1-3 days a week as rest days so your goals are slightly lower without losing your green goals reached. For example, on your active days you may be striving to reach 17000 steps and 60 active minutes, but on your rest day you only expect to get the recommended 10000 steps and 30 active minutes. Right now you lose out on the satisfaction of seeing your goals turn green because it is a rest day. Rest days are very important.

I hate that the app changes your goals from the begining when all you want to do is get better.  It should change goals from that day forward never back dates that is not helping anyone do better in their fitness plan.

My current daily steps goal is 12,500.

I have been meeting or exceeding that goal for the last month.

I'm thinking of increasing the goal but I find one part of your application's logic for new goals to be a disincentive for raising them: when I raise my goals, you judge all previous days (on which I hit the goal for that day) in comparison with the NEW goal.

If my goal yesterday was 10,000 and there's a star on the chart and the row in my iOS app's summary page  is green, then I raise the goal for today to 12,500, you shouldn't revise the summary for yesterday and say that I didn't hit my goal!
